Production pics of Nissan "Fairlady" Z

This is what the Z will look like on the road...

I was looking forward to this car. Its still very nice... not much has changed from the concept except a less radical front end and no more 20" wheels

Oh... and of course... the interior is no longer that beautiful piece of art it was in the concept. It is fine now... but its just another boring... drab... automotive interior.

I like it but it has that weird Audi TT thing where the doors don't look like they fit the car. See how the Lines dont' line up. The TT does that to and I don't like it.

agreed...i was specifically looking for them...even found them in GT3, which is y i said if people did a search, they would prob see it

as far as pricing goes, u may see a lot of converts from CL's to the Z since the Z will b right around 30K, and im sure people would b willing to throw in an extra few G's for the Z...but i am not aware of Fairlady pricing yet...here's where i saw them

Very nice. I have a special place in my heart for the Z cars. My first car was a 1972 240-Z. I am looking forward to seeing a real live one that I can test drive.

that was my father's first true sports car, and it is his most memorable car, period...he had the covers to the headlights and kept them so clean, the reflection of the light through the cover was like having brights on all the time...back then, there was a 6 month wait for the silver manual, but he got a call from the dealorship almost immediately telling him they had a silver automatic if he wanted it, and he took it...my father actually told me in a small way, our CL's resemble the Z...long hood, shorter back

thanks for the memories Marine

Antenna

The only thing that they should of changed is the antenna. Make it like Acuras and other cars in the window.

That's true, I just noticed that when you mentioned it. Other than that, I like it, even though the back end is a lil weird.

think of it this way...im not sure bout the Fairlady, but the regular Z should go 0-60 in approx 5.8, which is comparable roughly to the CL-S with CAI give or take 0.1 sec ...that's not bad when u consider everything on the positive side of the Z, such as weight, size, specs, etc., when compared to the CL-S...i kinda think our car is the better bargain, but the Z is definitely the sportier of the 2 (kinda obvious )

I agree. That's why it needs turbos to really be considered a "sports car." Without them, it just won't live up to expectations, mine at least.

Courtesy Nissan In Richardson, TX is taking deposits on this car NOW! www.courtesynissan.com You can lock one down with a $1000 deposit and drive off with it in July '02.

They guarantee MSRP with no ADM, like what happened when the PT Cruiser, Miata's and Beeteles arrived in showrooms.

It WILL be offered in ragtop for the first time in a Z car, will have the VQD 3.5 ltr engine putting out 300hp, have rwd w/ 6spd tranny.

I'm keeping my CL-S AND buying this damn thing!!!!!!!

Umm, I dunno...

5.8 secs seems too slow.

This thing has 300HP, the same as a GS400, and it must weigh at least 500lbs less... probably even more. Plus its a 6-spd. Yet, the GS400 auto does 0-60 in the same time.

Also, look at the Altima with the same engine detuned to 240hp... and the Maxima with 255hp... their certainly spanking CL-S's with CAIs... SOOOO...

I think 5.8 is extremely conservative.

And either way... a CLS with CAI breaking 6 secs!?!?

could u provide proof it's got 300HP?? according to Zcar.com, they dunno the weight or the final HP numbers...c for yourself

http://www.zcar.com/forums/read.php?f=5&i=18882&t=18882

and look at the replies also...looks like the car's weight is around 3000+

based on all the promotional material Nissan has been sending me... my guess would be 300hp... also thats the most consistent estimate at Fresh Alloy.

And, if it weighs 3000lbs (which I doubt) it is still at least 500lbs lighter then a GS400 like i said

either way this thing will have MORE power then a CLS... better traction... a better transmission... and it will weigh less. So its damn sure gonna spank the CLS no matter how you shake it.

Not that a CLS could be within .1 secs of 5.8 anyway

the Red Rocket can

anyways, 3100 pounds give or take a little for a 2 seater is too heavy!!

my guess is it'll b 280HP and weigh 3050...im still thinkin 5.8 0-60, but we shall c

spank a CL-S?? stock vs stock yeah it'll win, but it shouldn't b a blowout IMO...headers, CAI, pullys, yadda yadda yadda should make it a photo finish, altho we gotta spend lots of mula to do this

i nominate PGATour to represent the CL-S's in a race from 0 - top speed LOL

Whatever this guy is drinking ... I'll take three

I've never seen a legit timeslip for a CL-S with a CAI that is anywhere near 5.9 seconds.

What the new Z does is segment the market some more by giving buyers more choices. The Audi TT is the car facing the most direct competitive threat, as this is something more than just a styling exercise.

The S2000 is actually a better competitor in Honda's line, insofar as it is a rear-drive two-seater being marketed as a pure sports car.

As far as CL buyers go, they'll have a six speed manual pretty soon, so the choice will be between having the occasional use of a back seat against drop-dead gorgeous styling, as well as the possible insurance implications of owning a two-seater. As far as performance is concerned, there is some horsepower left to be tapped in the 3.2L engine if Honda thought there was a competitve reason to do so, so the rest is kinda moot. My guess is that you'll see less CL sales fall unless Honda takes some kind of action, and they're already aware of this, so they'll probably use a mid-life refresh on the CL to address some of these issues.

Just my two cents...
