Price quote at Goodyear store

This guy must be high-- 4 tires on 19" wheels: two rear tires (275/35) and two fronts (245/35's) = only $1750 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can get the same tires (F1's) for $293 each at Tirerack but the problem is finding someone around here w/ a machine that can change tires that size. I knew this was gonna be expensive dammit

You tell them what tirerack price is? Most places price match, i know Discount Tire does and they had no issues putting on my 265s on the 330ci.

Or you can just buy the tires from tirerack and bring them into any shop. They wont deny labor work.

Talk to TireRack. They have preferred shops that they can recommend. And they can drop ship them to the shop for free.

the manager I spoke with, is a guy I've known a loooong time. He absolutely refused to get involved w/ putting Tirerack's tires on my wheels saying "I'm not getting involved with that." Ummm, OK but whatever. I'll have to get a hold of Tirerack and see what gives. I've had them shipped directly to the Acura store a shitload of times (since 1988) so I def. know that routine. Thanks!

Then tell them they didn't come from tire rack, most places don't have a problem installing customer provided tires. Sure its nice to make the tire sale, but installing them is still better then nothing my I guess this is the reason so many tire shops have a bad reputation and are losing business.

YMMV...

One local place asks if you bought tires "from the internet" and refuses to mount them if you say yes... Yep, they turn away business if you've got tirerack tires.

Some places have started doing the price match on prices from "other local retail stores" too, to get around having to match tirerack. Gotta read the fine print, but sometimes you can get lucky if the counterperson isn't familiar w/ their policies, but I've been turned down before (and shown the fine print) when trying to get prices matched...

I'm going to bring a print out of the tirerack prices when I go for a set of tires soon at my local Town Faire Tires and see what they say. It's always worth trying at least.

Ive never had a problem around here with any shop putting tires on my car. I havent bought a set of tires from a store in 10 years now. Every tire i buy comes from the rack (and thats alot for me. 1 complete set a year + snows, and 2nd vehicle)

Also try Tires.com - they ship for free unlike Tirerack. I just bought a set for my CL from Tires.com, good service, good price.

I'm sure it's the same situation. It's just hard to find a place that will mount a 19" tire to begin with let alone do it without damaging the wheel.

You are right--I got online and saw a Goodyear store in a nearby town that was a "recommended installer" so I rang them up and they said have them shipped here, we'll do it for you. Perfect, now all I have to do is lay out 1000+ for tires/install.

In the end...after a little hassle, you still find out that tire rack is saving you about $700. Tire Rack > * I only get my tires from them. Then again, I have a company acct hookup from my experience with Honda/Acura.
