Pontiac G8 Runs a 13.1
No Performance adders, just a tune on stock tires. So someone with $250 can go out to their dealers and get a tune or buy a handheld and tune the car to run low 13's. Imagine what tires and bolt ons with a tune will do. wow

The new G8 GT is practically the same platform as the recent GTO models. I ran 13.2@106 in my '06 GTO when it was bone stock.
Here's what it can do with just CAI, headers and tune: (I have to bang the gears too, the autos are faster)
http://gallery.mac.com/academytim#100215
My PB is actually 12.539@111.12, but I don't have video of that run.
In 2009 the G8 GXP will be available with a 6-speed manual and more HP!

A 1.98 60 on stock tires
Thats 50/50 weight distribution for you.... that'd be one sweet car for family hauling

0-60 is such an antiquated standard for measuring a car's performance. 1/4 mile will give you the best picture assuming a decent 60.

I shoot people
I was at a stop light near a dealership yesterday and saw one being test drive... only saw the side and back, and I gotta admit... it did look pretty good...

The G8 GT is de-tuned for economy to avoid the federal "gas guzzler" tax ($1300). They have the same 6.0 LS2 that came in the GTO. The GTO came tuned to 400hp/400tq, but the G8 GT comes tuned to 361hp/385tq.
That should tell you how much just a tune would wake a new G8 up.

I thought the G8 GT came with a detuned LS2 before too.

Someday, an RS6 Avant+
Sick......
Count me in with JZ. Once I do get back to the homeland, that is a car to get (if I can't afford a BMW).

It is slated for '09. Maybe it will get the same LS9 as the ZR-1 Vette and the CTS-V gets in '09. Yeah, that would be sweat! 6.2L Supercharged FTW!
GXP will get the LS3

There were only auto trans models, and the EPA city mpg rating was 15 or 16!

I like it as well. Next to the LS2 GTO,and the C6 Vette this is one of the few GM products I have liked in recent years.

Then again since you live in LA you should find the interior very important because most of the time while you're driving you'll be looking at it since you're bored sitting in traffic. Plus in LA, driving on the highway is the same as driving in the city.

Exactly. I'd never see redline in any gear above 2nd. in LA.

Also, the dealership said they have a $2500 markup from MSRP price right now due to lack of inventory. So the one i saw was $31,259 then add in the $2500.....still a sweet buy for the money though.
I probably won't be able to trade for a year or more anyway, but i want to drive it nontheless
