Pontiac G6 GTP vs Top Fuel: my (crappy) video
As I mentioned in a previous post, I attended the Friday qualifying day of last weekend's NHRA national event at Route 66 Raceway in Joliet. To illustrate how hard a Top Fuel car launches, they put one heads-up against a Pontiac G6 GTP.
The driver of the T/F car stayed on the throttle for 1.2 seconds then coasted the rest of the way. The G6 was under full power the whole time. Result: T/F 11.6 @ 88 MPH, G6 16.2 @ 88 MPH. Here's the video I shot from the stands with my digicam. If you watch it a few times, you can see how the T/F car was setup somewhat soft right of the line then looks like a rifle shot after it moves about a car length.
