Did my first mod today, had 3M clear bumpers front and back and door edges installed. They are going to come back to do the hood and mirror caps after I re-stripe the car and change the mirror caps.

All my NM-Engineering parts should be in tomorrow...let the modding begin!

Should I continue in this thread or make a new thread going forward?

The people at MINI thought it would be smart to make the stock exhaust one piece alllll the way to the down pipe. I really didn't want to cut the exhaust, but I guess I have no choice..

It's a bit quieter than I expected....But I think once I add the intake and hot and cold pipe to free up some more breathing, the car should be a bit more raucous...

Not quite as low as I expected, I can only assume it will settle a bit more with some time...And damn this thing needs bigger wheels!

Intake and Turbo Heat Shield installed. I didn't have time to do the throttle body to intercooler pipe, or the turbo to intercooler pipe. Hopefully tomorrow. Sounds a lot better, you hear a pronounced hiss, the blow-off valve and the turbo spooling up a LOT more than before, which you didn't hear a thing.

During the day I only drove it around the block a few times by my office, so I didn't get a good feel for it. I drove home last night, but had to stop by the airport and pick up my father and one of his employees, so I had the car with 3 people and some weight in the trunk. Hitting a hard bump, you feel the rear suspension hitting the bump stops with the back seat and trunk weighed down. It's not quite as stiff as my Clubman was, but I would say it has more to do with the 55 series rubber on the Countryman versus 45 series on the Clubman. The exhaust has a deep hum you'll hear when cruising, or some people refer to as "drone". Doesn't bother me though.

Will that Air intake do anything where its located? looks like it will just suck in hot air. Wouldn't a filter change in the stock box been more effective?

During R&D, we installed temperature probes around the engine compartment and the gauge showed the inside temperature matched the ambient after vehicle speed past 20 mph. And by logging the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor also showed that open-air-box intake generated higher volume (gr/sec) of air going through the sensor. So when we had to choose between (a) cooler air at all speed with limited air source, vs. (b) cooler air at 20~ mph. with unlimited air source, the choice was pretty obvious.

MINI did a great job on 2011 model MCSin improving the turbo intake tube by replacing the soft rubber tubing with a full size and rigid ABS plastic one, similar to NM's aluminum/silicone version that we offer for the 2007~2010 MCS & JCW vehicles. So we decided to leave the inlet tube out and price out the kit to be more economical.

damn so much and its still so new lol.

I'm against most people cause i kinda dig it. I saw the same color as yours the other day i like it.

Question though, why does the back say cooper s? unless my eyes deceived me and it said countryman, which i doubt.

Cooper is a designation given to all MINI's. The specific model names (coupe, hardtop, roadster, convertible, clubman, etc.) are not put on the cars with emblems AFAIK.

It says "Cooper S", but I'll be debadging it shortly.

Next up, I want to paint the headlight and tail light trim rings to match the body color.

I want to add a third color to the body, as it's a LOT of black and white. Most people go red, I go orange.

These are factory parts I just got, orange mirror caps and the side scuttle trim around the side marker:

I'm changing the front stripe to match the rear stripe. The outer-most (thin) stripe you see on the boot will be changed to orange and the thicker part will be black. I'm contemplating striping the roof too, but will probably do without it. I will paint the front brake air duct to match orange as well. The "4" in the ALL4 I want to layer in orange too.

I want to stripe the side, but too many people are fighting me on it saying it's too much. I just feel that the side profile of the car is so blah that I need something to break up the door to make it look visually shorter. I was thinking to go with a factory looking sport stripe, with one being (thinner stripe) orange, the other (thicker stripe) black. If I don't do the sport stripe look, I still want to stripe it in some way to break up the door, with something in black and orange too.

This is one of the members cars from the Mini site I'm on, I happen to love how his car looks...those are the MINI sport stripes he has, but he must have had it custom made, because blue isn't a Mini option...

What do you think?

I think at first glance it looks like that kid is standing on the hood

I like the accent stripes on the side, I say do it. You would be doing a black stripe correct, not orange?
