A pissed TLs Customer READ!
Ight guys i have a hooked up TLS and i just got springs (CT) and CT sways. total was about 700 to get it shipped to my house. TOok it to the dealer to get in. Little to my knowledge it would cost me 700 with a 10% dicount to get it done. this is rediclious. i am so pissed off, no1 go to Bill Vance Acura in Bridgewater NJ they are rip off artists. they only worked the car for 5 hrs but bc of some acrura rule they have to charge my factory set labor prices this is bs nethin i can do or what? i am furious

did you already get it done?
dont have the dealer do it, an aftermarket shop should be able to set you up for like $200 buck total.

It sounds like your problem is with the cost and not the job done.
It's not unusual for dealer install charges to be high when compared to a private shop. This is not news. This is a well known 'negative' for dealer installs, however the well known 'positive' of having your warranty recognized may be worth the extra price of the install.
Did they not give you an appropriate estimate of the charges? Most dealers charge an hourly shop rate for installs with little room for negotiation.

well
they told me about 4 hrs total not the 9 that it took actually. i am very upset with this. i didnt want to have some shop do it for the fact that hey cant be trusted. what gets ME is that the dealer only charged 250 for the instal of my hearders exaust and intake. which i think would take longer and be more of a pain!!!!!!!!

That's pretty crazy. I'm with Slimey, did they give you an estimate prior to installation?
BTW, PAA's not that far from you. It's worth the drive. http://www.parkaveacura.com/comptech/

Nine hours does sound like a lot, especially when many non-mechanics on these boards have posted install times that are much shorter.
If their estimate was four hours and they went to nine (as said - more then a full day), how come they didn't notify you they were going over the estimate? I thought there were consumer protection laws that require a mechanic to let the customer know when their actual cost is significantly more then the estimate.
Did they have to install a camber kit? Did they include a four wheel alignment in the cost?
Looking at the PAA site, their labor costs are just over $500 for springs/sways/camber kit and alignment.

from what i understand this guys complaining about the flat rate system. if the dealers book says that it takes 1 hour to do a job, theyll charge you for 1 hour, even if the mechanic takes 5 minutes to complete it
if i remember correctly, it takes 2 hours to change a spring on our cars, by the book. multiply by 4, add an alignment = 9hrs
most mechanics log 12hr days. the good ones log 16hrs

Bill Vance Acura is the worst. Bunch of scumbags. I bought my CL there, luckily I didn't live in the area so I never had to deal with them again!
STAY AWAY from that dealer.

The shop where I had my springs/shocks/alignment done finished all of it in about 2 hours and cost me $250. They also installed my cat back in 15 minutes. The install was perfect, no problems.
Dealers are just as much scumbags as individual shops could be and probably much more because they have acura behind them. You got fokked. Dealer quoted me something like $500 for install. You live, you learn I guess.
