Yes, I will be driving with snow tires though.

The car doesn't really make boost until ~3,500 rpms per the dyno. Under that, the car drives like stock.

Wow, a 12.9 with only those mods is pretty awesome. What kind of trap speed did you have?

Sorry, posted prematurely there. Can't wait to see some times w/ the blower! Looks like I'm going to need to up my boost a couple psi...

Best trap was 109. My tuner showed me some dynoes of cars with the exact same setup. They put down 290ish rwhp. The neat thing is that he overlaid an modded N/A 3V into my pull. The graphs were nearly identical until roughly 3K rpms I figure the car should trap close to 120 as it sits now.

It's cheap (25K), rwd, has 300hp and is 90lbs lighter than my 3446lb CL [1]

And it does still have a live rear axle [2] (IIRC the 99-01 Cobras had an IRS)

Get back to me when there's another 2+2 rwd coupe with ~300hp for under 30K. The rx-8 is the only thing close right now, and has problems (oil an fuel consumption issues) and only has like 247hp... I guess I could always buy a $80K 3000lb porsche 911

I like lightweight, but I also like cheap

^ And trust me, you won't like the RX8. I think I had mine for a total of 4 months and like 400 something miles. I hated it...

I noticed that... I never got around to asking you why you got rid of it so quickly, but after doing some research online (and seeing the shitty resale value), I scratched the RX-8 off my 2+2 rwd coupe list...

is it the weight savings or just the fact that it's a live rear axle?

In terms of handling and performance it hasn't made a difference...

I don't mind them much, adds to the "vintage" look. Incidentally, my neighbor has them on his '06 Convertible, but he has red covers over them so it has a red hue. He was minding his own business on the highway and a cop pulled him over and gave him a ticket because he had the covers over them. Mind you, he's a 60 something guy that's got nothing better to do other than modify and/or detail his cars daily and go for the daily cruise...

Well, maybe I'm spoiled because we live in Motown. Stang's are dime a dozen here... My best friend had one and I drove it on many an occasion ~ never was that impressed.

Ok, so I ask why the comment he should delete it then? Especially if you have no backing performance or handling data to make the comment... you don't really have a reason. Besides the it didn't impress you?

They're suppose to be a dime a dozen... it's an inexpensive sports cars that's marketed to be affordable to all. But the performance numbers are actually very good for it's price point.

I guess to sum it up you were just taking a shot as his car and talking shit. But your comment must have come from one of the zealots who believe a live axles cannot perform well. I'm guessing you didn't come up with it yourself; your just repeating it blindly.

Sometimes it's better to say nothing than to say something... don't you think?

No, I was teasing Greenie because of his relentless obsession with lightweight, it was not meant to be a "shot" at the OP.

If you take offense at my personal opinion, that is your problem. I have plenty of friends who work in the domestic automotive industry and have had the pleasure of driving many cars in various states of testing (off the record). Why you would presume that I don't know what a live rear axle is speaks to your level of arrogance.

I knew it was a shot at me

I grew up driving 2500lb shitboxes, so I guess in midlife, I'd like to return to those days

Perhaps you should have answered this way the 1st time I asked Instead of stating you were spoiled, as it certainly came across that way...

presume?!?!? I asked a direct question as to why you thought he should remove it... I asked weight or handling performance. You answered with "im spoiled blah blah blah". WTF was I suppose to think... Not like you gave an answer showing you had any knowledge the 1st time... you could have just said you were messing with greenie.

So I'm arrogant because you're poor at communicating?

take the :shortbus: back to school guy.... I don't have ESP; I only know what you say...

ya, I didn't. I'm still not sure why he didn't just say that when I asked instead of his bizzare answer.

I hear ya on the 2500lbs, so did I... Good luck finding a car that weight now

Greenie and I are probably the tightest sob's on this board with our wallets -- plenty o shit boxes between us.

Why did you assume I was ripping on the OP, I wasn't. My comments were directed towards Greenie. Yes, Mustangs are very common around these parts, ie not special. I never said they suck or that they are POS's. You are the one who accused me of being an an uneducated consumer.

Anyways - no biggie. No harm, no foul. Carry on.

Ya it's cool.

Dude, re-read our conversation again maybe it will make more sense... I only accused you after answered my questions oddly.

I asked you why he should delete the axle.. and look at your response...

I think you are reading way too much into my response. If you want me to answer it more specifically: Yes, in terms of handling and performance in measured terms, it's a great car for the money. But in actuality, seat of the pants feel on shitty roads (ala SE Michigan Potholes), equates to crappy feel. The live rear axle is a detriment.

huh, ya I have yet to drive one of the new Stangs. I've only read up on it and talked to a few owners.

Detriment to handling and a blessing to drag strip racing. But it does hold it's own looking at it's performance numbers.

lol, but ya that's a better answer
