pick one: Vette ZR-1 or Nissan GT-R

Okay here's the deal: Let's say you had the option to have as a "fun car." you could keep your daily driver as whatever it is. your option is new Nissan GT-R or Vette ZR-1. What would you be rolling in? and why?

personally I'd go with the GT-R. This is my personal thoughtsI think for it only having 480 hp(which i know a lot) 0-60 in 3.5 seconds does the 1/4 mile in 11.7 seconds. I think Nissan ON PURPOSE underrated this motor like Pontiac did back in the late 60s with the orginal GTO.
even with a new Mustang GT500 will get hammered by a GT-R. it's 1/4 mile time 12.9.
now don't get me wrong the ZR-1 is a badass ride but the Nissan going and thumping on where American big V-8s used to dominate. This is probably the car i'm most excited about coming out in the next year.

but there's not many cars you can own 30 years that either maintain their value from time you bought it OR increase in value(yes i know inflation and storage cost). I know the ZR-1 a limited edition car so it's more sought after. but probably 90-95% of cars out there you drive it off the lot there goes a few grand at least.

it kind of reminds me of a backend of the new Mustang with the front end of a 350Z. I like the blend but that's me.

i believe it'll bring in ALOT more than 100k because it is supposedly the last high powered sports car before the 38+mpg bill comes in place.

btw here's kansai's GTR

that white doesn't pop like the ibis white on the RS4, but still looks good to me.

I wonder if they used the same base colors as the R34? like the same exact white, blue, gray, etc..

i haven't seen a blue one yet, i think that may be R34's trademark color but i have seen the gray ones.

i don't know but one of my friends told me Nissan already has 2500 pre-orders on the GT-R as of December 31st,07. I don't know how many Nissan plans on making for this year but i bet as soon as their unloaded their sold.
so forget about test driving.

Edited the poll b/c this is not Ramblings... it's Car Talk. Also added Neither as an option.

For the record... I voted neither.

Wow, that's a tough question. I think I'd pick the ZR1, or the TDI Audi R8.

if that is true and they make 1500 a year for the US, I wonder if I could go to a dealership and try to put down a deposit to get one for MSRP, by the time the car arrives I could always change my mind and get my deposit back, assuming they let me put down a refundable deposit...

I would probably have to wait a year and a half or so... I should talk to my friends father who works at a Nissan dealership here... thoughts?

Quick Reply: pick one: Vette ZR-1 or Nissan GT-R
