Phila. Auto Show
Phila. Auto Show
Anyone else disappointed with the philly auto show? I think it sucked this time around. Porsche wasn't even there! But the only thing they had I thought was really worth stopping to see was the Audi R8. Anyone else check the show out?
Was thinking about going on Wednesday, but may bail on it. Philly's show has been getting less and less interesting, and the...um...patrons of late have left much to be desired. Tired of waiting for dopes trying to pose in the hot cars while their friends take photos.
I was toying with the idea of dumping the CL-S and checking out new cars at the show, but have since given up that interest (at least for now).

Save your cash and go to a real show. It took 30 min to see the whole thing, it was one main hall of a bunch of new domestics, and 2 tiny rooms of everything else. If you're in the philly area, you get a better experience checking out cars at the conicelli autoplex...
damn, that sucks. porsche was here at DC's auto show. and after finishing the deomestics section, the other room was HUGE with all insane cars (lambos and ferraris) along with benz, bmw, acura, lex, etc...
but yea, that sucks that it turned out bad. maybe next year you should travel to dc (2-hour drive lol) and check out our show.

I went a few years ago, but after that I blew off last year and didn't even consider going this year either. I find it mostly boring ...well, not much having to do with cars is totally boring to me, but this show is not very stimulating or worth the admission IMO.
If you do go anyway, just blow off the show, go down to the Reading Terminal Market, and get a cheesesteak at Rick's, of original Oliveri family fame. At least that would make the trip worth it.

Man it's not the same eversince Essarak Hout stop entering his car into the Tuner Salon lol.......the freaking Saleen S7 or whatever wasn't even there this time. What happen to Proto-type X? Civic Type-R? Proto-type supra? blah what a waste of money.

As far as FC Kerbeck's rep there, it was a lambo gallardo and murcielago spyder, Vantage, DB9, Rolls-Royce phantom, and a quattroporte. All of which you weren't allowed near anyway, but oh well.
The reading terminal was by far the best part of the trip IMHO (as per TSXey)...rick's was good, but something about that smoked bbq ribs stand that does it for me...if you go, stop there...and then head to the show...maybe then it'll be worth it for ya!
I went - wasn't too bad. THe good thing was, the show wasn't too crowded, and it was easy to get a chance to sit in any of the vehicles there, save for the exotics which were roped off.
The R8 was gorgeous

Yeah, anyone's who's been to any other show in any other city has been really disappointed. And yes, that R8 was droolworthy...I spotted it from the entrane of the room because of the LED's in the headlights...beautiful...

I went twice enjoyed it. It just sucked they wont let anyone inside the Audi RS4. The Jags were sick my goodness the S type is one nice looking automobile. All the American cars on display sucked, except for the saturn aura. And no NSX's why?

There was an article in The Philadelphia Inquirer about the auto show, in regards to the planned expansion of the convention center. The article said the show will never be a 1st tier show like Detroit, Chicago, LA, but they are hoping that the expansion will allow it to become a 2nd tier. My impression was that it's a 3rd tier now.
The inference was that by 'tier', it meant what type of participation the get from car manufacturers. New cars are often shown at tier 1 events. I guess if Porsche didn't show, that's what you get with a tier 3 show.
