Personalized plate

OK, so I'm going to get a personalized plate for the bike. I've narrowed it down to two possibilities:

DV8 (or some similar variation as I'm sure this is not available). I like this b/c the bike is different, hence, deviate.

2OHNO - Well, the bike is an Aprilia Tuono. I have seen people with TUONO on their plate, but thought that this spelling was different and could have other meanings to people viewing it.... so it kind of works on two levels.

OK, feel free to vote and post opinions

I think that both of those plates will be too hard for people to understand. But I like the 2OHNO better I guess.

^ Thanks for the reply . I'm not really doing it for other people to understand per say. Plus, I don't expect people to get the 2OHNO plate except for motorcycle enthusiasts. But it people don't understand DV8... well, then they're beyond help

I recently tried ordering "DB8 FTW" for my Integra (DB8 is the vin # class for the integra sedan for those that dont' know).

CA DMV came back and said that it could be offensive. I was so pissed.

In any case, I tried ordering "DB8" instead, but couldn't, don't know if it was taken or if they don't allow it but they said I couldn't order it.

Needless to say I ended up ordering "DBEIGHT" I'm still awaiting word back if they accepted it or not, so in your case, if you can't get "DV8", try "DVEIGHT"

DV8 is hard to understand? Deviate...popped right out at me. 2OHNO made sense, but only because I knew what kind of bike it was; it will be lost on most people.

Personally, I like DV8.

^ Yeah, that's way I'm leaning. 2OHNO is cool... but the bike already says Tuono on it... so probably don't need it on the plate, even with the funky spelling...

Looks like DV8 is not available, which really isn't a surprise.

Think I'm going to go with D-VEE-8 or DVEE8. Still pretty simple. Probably go with the hyphens so the same point gets across with as few characters as possible...

^ Yeah. I like that, but I was trying to keep it with as few characters (not counting hyphens, don't care about those) as possible and was trying to keep the number 8 in there. Hmm...

You could try DV8R.... That might not be taken.

And I agree about shorter being better on a bike.

D-v-8
-DV8-
D.V.8
.DV8.

That first V is supposed to be capitalized, but it keeps changing it on me .

^ I already tried that route . DV8 is not available. According to the NC DMV, that means it's not available even with characters. So if DV8 is not available... neither is D.V.8 or -DV8-, or any other variation. Apparently the characters (hyphens, periods, etc) do not make it a different plate from DV8.

I could have sworn I tried DV8R and it wasn't available either. Now I'm not sure. I'll double check.

DVEIGHT is starting to grow on my now... but like I said (and you re-iterated), shorter looks better on a bike.

Hmm... Let me check DV8R and go from there. Four characters would be the next best thing to 3.

Really? That's very interesting.

I just checked, and DV8R is available. The online checker is great (I'm assuming you're using it).

Yeah, I checked it as well and saw that. Not sure if I want that though. We'll see. It's only a plate.. so I'll pull the trigger eventually.

If you want to pay the fee to get it... you can have it. I have options

That's ok, I want L-I-V-I-N, which is unavailable . Honestly, since DV8 isn't available, I'd keep thinking on it.

Well, I ended up registering it yesterday. Went with DV8R. I had thought about this before, but seeing MrMako type it out again kind of solidified it.

I was going to go with DVEE8 which was available, but I really didn't want to spell anything out, so DV8R wins. It's also the closest to what I wanted... so that helped too.

^ Hahaha. Well, I had already checked DV8R before I even bought the bike, but your post spurred my interest in it again since DV8 was taken.

Says 3-4 weeks, so it will be a little while before it arrives. Guess the prison system is a little slow with plate manufacturing lately

It's supposedly a 8-12 week wait here in California, so stop complaining, although I was lucky to get one of two done in 4 weeks. Picking it up next week.

^ Wow. When I got the personalized plate for the work truck it only took a few days... so 3-4 weeks is a lot to me. 8-12 weeks... yikes.
