Peeling Clear - Fixable?
Peeling Clear - Fixable?
Help! While washing my car today and was touching up a small spot I missed when I stumbled upon this. Peeling clearcoat!!!
I talked to a friend who suggested that a body shop might be able to wet sand the parts that have not peeled free yet and then have them spray the area with some fresh clearcoat. 2004 Santa Fes are the absolute pits for peeling and thin clearcoat, especially on plastic parts; it was the worst year for Hyundai paint. All I can say is I'm glad I caught it early!
Can this be fixed? Any help is greatly appreciated.

is that piece attached to the door or can you remove it??? if you can remove it, it would prob be very simple to wet sand down and reclear...
my TL is 10 yrs old and has a bit clearcoat chip on the hood... i am not sure if i want to spend the money to fix it... but it is annoying to look at...

Since it's on a removable plastic piece it should be easy. I'd make sure I had some matched color too, just in case you sand through the color into the plastic (it's probably pretty thin). Either way, remove, sand, re-spray. If you can't remove it just mask the area really well.
