When you paintless dent repair a dent as bad as the one in "a quick 30 min fix", does the paint eventually peel because it's been stretched? Or as long as the paint wasn't coming off after the dent/repair it's going to stay?

What he said. Sorry for the light circle, but it looked darker in Paint when it was fully zoomed in.

Ok Now I see it. That should be 100% fixable.

I have only had paint peel once and it was because it super stretched already (from a pellet gun shot) and the paint was thin. I fixed a dent that shouldnt have been PDRd to begin with. But I got it out pretty good, paint looked fine and then a few days later, it bubbled up, about the size of a pellet.

This was on my buddy's GTR, driver side door. The total area pulled in by that shot was about the size of a credit card. It took a lot of patience to bring it up slowly and with out cracking the paint. The panel is aluminum also.

I think the most stretched dent I have ever worked on.

Final result....

the dent itself was extremely hard to notice, but continuously moving that metal back and forth stretched it and there is a big wave on the door that can be noticed at certain angles.

i figured id post another one. this is an Aluminum hood. very heard to work on also. It came out looking ok. There were several dents with severe orange peel. about 5-6 spots where the paint had cracked. But the owner was extremely happy with the results and thats what mattered the most at the end.

How long did it take you to fix that Buick's hood? Wouldn't it almost have been better to just replace it?

He is a friend of mine and a great guy.

As far as the hood goes, it would have been better to replace it, but since I had nothing productive to do with my time, I decided to go ahead and fix it. I spent between 5-8 hours. Dont remember how long exactly.

Looking at how great work you do on these cars, it sucks that I was told I can't get my door fixed. I had rust removed and side skirts painted and put on my Infiniti this past summer and I said I wanted PDR done on these dents in my door. I go to pick it up and then they tell me that there's a brace where the dents are and the guy wouldn't touch it cus of the fear of the paint cracking

If the dents are not sharp or stretched., they can be pretty much fixed no matter where they are.

I went to another guy by me (someone from Dent Wizard) and just from looking at the door he said it would probably be in the mid 400s to get the dents out. Another place gave me a cheaper quote but I never followed up since I thought it would get done when I had the other painting and stuff done. For now I can deal with it (white, 14 year old car) but maybe next year I'll look into it again since they are the major blemishes on the car. This is what I'm dealing with, btw:

How much does a job like this run? My hood on my mini van looks like this and i never though that you could fix it without serious body filler. I love your work!

Thanks. What kind of minivan. Normally we dont fix hoods like this. but if it were to be fixed, it will run about 1200-2000 depending on the hood. With this much damage, its hard to make them perfect.

Its fixable. probably not going to be perfect but it will be pretty good. 450 sounds about right. Even though there is a brace behind it, a PDR guy can make an access hole in the door jam area and get behind it.

Thanks for the info! Maybe I'll look into it again next year since I plan on getting more stuff for the car to make it perfect. Low miles on the car so I figure if I'm gonna have it for a while I may as well make sure it stays as perfect as possible.
