Damn, I forgot you see snow/salt...
That sucks...almost better to have a dedicated beater for winter and keep your new stuff new!
Confirmation is good...and even if she try and lie on you, you got Maury as backup!

I myself am wondering if there is any point to it. It seems like the proper, OCD car thing to do, but, they don’t spray any of the brake or suspension components, so they still rust as they always would... as for the body itself... is it still common for them to rust under average conditions? I’ve owned cars with undercoating and without, and honestly, they all look the same underneath.

Problem is that you have to have it redone every couple years. It starts flaking off and rust will start anyway. Not impossible to stay on top of, but it’s not a one time application.
Around here, plenty of people will pay to have it done on their brand new car... but then don’t ever redo it. Kind of defeats the purpose. It’ll start coming off on the most prone to abuse spots. But those are the spots that matter the most. Everywhere else, it’ll remain.
I get the feeling Ack is OCD enough to redo it every two to three years, though. But then again, he’s not your typical car owner, either, and actually cares for his cars.
It has other benefits too, like reducing road noise a bit. But man, the car wreaks for the first 5 days after having it applied

So I ended up selling and removing my tail as turn modules, I wasn't a big fan of the red brake lights acting as turn signals, and never really used the ridiculously bright double reverse lights, other than to blind a couple people in the parking lot. With the way people drive around here I figured bright as fuck amber turn signals was the only way to go, plus when you locked or unlocked the truck the amber fronts and mirrors would blink with the red LED panels in the back and just didn't look right. So, my solution was to get the brightest amber LED turn signal bulbs I could find. These have resistors built in so that you don't need add on resistors to avoid hyperblinking so it was a win-win. I mostly drive in rush hour traffic, so I wanted my turn signals to be obvious, and 2400 lumens each is pretty obvious I'd say. I took a little side by side with the stock bulbs
They are super bright, I just put them in so will have to wait for a night shot, but here they are during the day

Washed the truck up and took some better shots, loving the ongoing transformation that this truck has continued on through, love this front end so much

I want a lower level shot...like, stoop down and get the truck off in the distance to really give the perspective of stance and how meaty the tires look on it. Your pics always look like you zoomed in on a micromachine!
Please.
thanks!
Looking hot as fuck though...you're doing it right!

Small little mod here, I had read about a design flaw with the auxiliary pump where the filter media would shred and get torn up in the fan and destroy it causing problems and pump failure, so you know I had to upgrade it. This thing has to add like 100 HP right?
Here's the pump location under this trim piece
And here's the stock intake and "filter" mesh, such a shitty design in the first place. The foam acts as the only filter
So you know I had to spiff it up, I fit it over the nipple and got it lined up where I liked it and tightened it down.
I wasn't real thrilled with the chrome, but it says K&N on it which is cool. A lot of other guys used the Unifilter which is black but you have to trim the housing for it to fit correctly where as the K&N requires no trimming so this was preferred. Also made it super easy for a quick 3 minute mod
All installed and stealthy, the chrome does stand out a bit, but you really can't even tell that it's there. And at least I know it's not going to fail and F up something else in the engine.
Ready for that extra 100 HP now

"Secondary air injection pump" It appears to be hooked up to a vacuum line, it's some kind of emissions control. Someone said they thought it only ran at startup and shutdown of the engine, not all the time.
I got the idea from this thread, I know a lot of 2nd gen Tacos have had issues with this

No need to remove it, just preventative maintenance to make sure the part doesn't fail. I removed the foam and the original breather piece

Came out this morning and my car was steaming in the sun, tried to catch an artsy picture before going to work. The frost on the roof was melting in the sun, pretty cool effect, wish I could have gotten a better picture

Knocked out a couple projects today, I got a $30 gift card sent to me from Crutchfield, plus had some money in my paypal, and ended up getting an open box set of 3.5" speakers that weren't even opened for 15 bucks, so I decided to buy a new pair instead of installing the Infinitys I had in my last truck. I also grabbed some bass blockers on Amazon
The wiring for the tweeters is different than my 4th gens, so I had to get new 4 wire wiring harnesses from TacoTunes to do this install, I've had them laying around for the last year and finally put them to use. Since the speakers are wired in parallel I had to splice the 2 positive and negative wires together
Here's a before of the stock tweeter paper cone garbage, these were the only stock speakers left in my truck
And here's a little side by side
So once I got all the wires soldered up, I threw on the foam dampening material, even though they barely touch any metal other than the mounting brackets.
I had gotten a spare set of twetter mounting brackets from a member on my 4Runner forum so I cut those up to make the mounting easier since the speaker basket was so large
So I mounted them the same style as the tweeters
And here's the driver's side all installed, the driver's side was super easy to install because it has plenty of room underneath...
The passenger side has air ducts directly below it and is much tighter, I eneded up having to take the left bracket back out and trim it down further with some tin snips, and tuck the wiring down in the back in order to get it to fit correctly
But then I got it to bolt right in, and voila!
I also trimmed the speaker grills down, didn't take a before picture, but they had rings and I wanted to make sure that they didn't touch the speakers.
Then I reinstalled the speaker grills, and cranked up the tunes! They sound SO much better than stock, the stock tweeters are garbage and were killing me for quite a while. So glad I finally got this mod done
