Took advantage of the APR sale and got the Avant flashed. The sale included 4 tunes + security lockout, anti-theft, and fault-code erase/throttle body realignment.

I went with the stock, 91 octane, 93 and valet tunes.

The tune is absolutely amazing. It's a completely different car now. The car pulls so much faster and harder. Although I haven't done a dyno, my car should be around 232 hp and 273 lb-ft now, from 200hp/207lb-ft (stock).

Next up I'm hoping will be the AWE Intercooler and AWE quad tip exhaust, but it'll be a while.

I typically park in a spot at work that allows me to park over the line on the right side because no car can park to the right of where I park so that I can avoid door dings. Which is ironic in itself today because I opened my front passenger door, slowly too, and still managed to misjudge the curve at the bottom of the door and nicked the corner of the door blade against a pole. The paint came completely off the corner of the door blade, it's noticeable with the door closed. I wanted to kick myself in the ass for doing something so stupid but there are video cameras at work.

Anyway, so this little thing is going to bug the living shit out of me so I'm planning/thinking about what I can do to fix it. I can either ...

1) Use touch-up paint and just cover up the part that got nicked as a temporary fix.
2) Repaint the door blade and risk the paint not matching the rest of the car (don't like the idea of that)
3) Wait and get all four stock door blades repainted brilliant black, paint the roof to match, and get the AWE exhaust and S4 valance painted brilliant black to match.
4) Wait and get the S4 door blades and paint them brilliant black. paint the roof to match, and get the AWE exhaust and S4 valance painted brilliant black to match.
5) Nick the corner of the remaining 3 door blades so they match (no this isn't a serious option, just being funny).

My long term goals were to get the roof painted black along with the S4 valence when I got my exhaust as well as buying the S4 door blades but hadn't yet decided if I was going to paint those black. I know it sounds stupid to do so much because of a small little nick, but if I repaint the blade, may as well wait a bit, save up a little more and do what I had planned to do later anyway.

What do you guys suggest???

I would go for the touch up paint. It wouldn't be much of a temporary fix in my opinion, because it should last pretty long, I guess. Its also the cheapest option on your list, besides the one where you want to nick the rest of your doors =)

I vote touch-up paint or just leave it alone.

Sly,

Whatever you do, you MUST get RS6 wheels for your car. I came when I saw these pics.

My kids will remain securely fastened into their Recaro child seat.

Yea, I'm leaning more towards doing that; the question though is what color to paint them. Repainting them white I don't think will look good because of color matching issues, hence why I would paint them brilliant black. Brilliant black is the stock OEM color of the grille on Titanium A4s, so at least going with that would match other elements on the car. The price to buy them is though. I knew I shoulda bought them when they were on sale.

I've seen those before and absolutely love them! Unfortunately, they just won't fit on my A4. Only the RS4 can pull them off unless I want to modify my fenders, which I don't want to. With the kid on the way I'm gonna be hard pressed to do many of the things I want to do to the Avant. Maybe I should open an eBay listing asking for donations and donate a percentage to some charitable organization to show some compassion.

I think actual RS6 wheels would look goofy. That's an RS4 Avant.

Looked up pricing on the S4 blades, friggin' A. I don't understand why 4, small, thin pieces of plastic, cost on average, $500. And that's unpainted.

Definitely not surprised. My wife took the Q7 to the car wash about two weeks ago and a part of one of the matte black wheel trim extensions that come with the S-line somehow fell off. The very bottom part. It's maybe 7 or 8 inches at best. 350$. Unpainted.

As I mentioned in the Audi Thread, I got in a group buy and purchased a set of Okada Projects Coilpacks. Got around to installing them tonight. Took about 15 minutes to install. In the process I broke one of the tabs off the harness that connects to the coils. Being anal about my car I want to replace the whole damn connector now which probably isn't cheap. So word of advice, be very careful when you push on the tabs to detach the connector from the coils.

So after I installed the coils, I turned the car on and no issues. Let it run for a couple minutes before I took it out for a spin. After I let the car warm up, I started rowing through the gears to see if I can feel any differences. At first I didn't notice much of anything, but after driving for about 10 miles I started to notice that the car's responsiveness, esp at the lower rpms/speeds, was much more responsive, and smoother. Acceleration throughout the powerband was smoother and sharp (best word I can come up with to describe the feeling). I didn't notice much of a diifference on the top end other than it being a bit more responsive.

In any case, I'll be getting an oil change in about a week or two so I have a feel a fresh oil change is gonna make it feel a little better. I'm glad I got in on the group buy because this was a mod that I wanted to do eventually and at least I saved some money on it now as opposed to spending more on it later. Gonna start saving for either a HPFP or AWE Intercooler next, if I can be good about saving, too many hobbies makes it difficult.

You're telling me. We ordered her in February of 2008 and took delivery on June 15th. I'm just a little shy of 35K on her and the last 5K I put on in the last 2 months along which is nuts compared to how many miles I was averaging before. Prior to the last 5K it's been in the garage mostly because I was primarily driving the Integra and before that my wife and I were carpooling to work but since she got a new job I've been driving the Audi more.

So far the car hasn't had any major problems. Luckily on the last oil change they performed the PCV replacement under a recall/TSB that was out. After that the car felt just like the day we picked her up. Hopefully soon I'll get a couple more mods on her.

Thus far, the ownership experience has been great. One of the things I've loved about owning an Avant is the experience of stumping my friends. None of my friends understood why I wanted a 'wagon'. No matter the lengths I went to explain to them the beauty, performance and utility you get out of this one car, it didn't click. Now, all of my friends have turned and get it, but none have felt compelled enough to want to buy one themselves. They're either set on SUV's or sedans. So the wagon stigma lives on.

Well, other than tint, don't have many cosmetic changes so before and after wouldn't do much IMO.

I'm going on a trip from Friday till Thursday, so the exhaust and RS4 RSB are gonna have to wait till I get back, along with what is arriving tomorrow. The earliest I may get these items installed is next Friday, but that's if I'm lucky.
