Look at this one:
2006 2.0T model with 18K miles going for $38K!!!

And it's not even an S-line.

ROFL ... $38k and then they "discount" to $35k and the dumbass buyer thinks he's getting a good deal.

Personally, I loved the last generation WRX wagon, but we want something a little more luxourious, so that also rules out the MazdaSpeed3 which I did consider. Saab, well that's ruled out on the account that it's a Saab. Volvo although may look good, their interiors blow and I think they are overpriced compared to the other euro models. BMW, out of the price range especially when you start adding options, same goes for merc. I did also look at the VW GTI 4 door and the Passat wagon but again, for the price you're paying for the passat wagon I'd rather pay extra and get an A3 or A4 than deal with VW's reliability issues.
When you know exactly what you want, you have fewer selections to choose from.

my dad has a thing for wagons and is possibly looking for a new car pretty soon, but there is really nothing jumping out at him as far as wagons. He drove the old WRX but doesn't like turbo cars, and the interior felt to cheap. He also hates the local subaru dealership for some reason (I think the closest one is in monrovia).
I told him the only good looking wagons available are the A3 and A4 avant, but he's still hesitent about owning an Audi. But there really is not many options in terms of wagon. It seems like everyone is just starting to go to crossovers, but I don't think my dad likes those either.
I think he decided to keep his B5.5 passat wagon for a while longer until hopefully something he really likes pops up. And his passat has had very few reliability issues so far [for a passat (knock on wood)]

Just got an email from one of the dealerships. He said that that specs I want in the car are no longer available and that I HAVE to get a special edition with certain options.
I'm gonna call him tomorrow and find out what the exact options will be. Edmunds does have options listed on their site, but I want to hear it from the horses mouth.

So looks like the Special Edition, aside from coming with the Y-spoke wheels, one year of sirius radio subscription, also comes with heated seats standard.
the 2008.5 special edition no longer has the cold weather package option and the rear window shade option.
I dunno why they remove shit if the car itself is the friggin' same.

I just wanted to remind you how great the A3 2.0T/MT is of a car. The wife had one for about a year and it was an absolute blast to drive. It is an surprisingly well balanced car with a engine-gearbox combination made in heaven. Good luck.

I just spoke to one of the dealers that gave me an offer yesterday of approx $39K.
The SE model comes with everything I wanted in terms of options, minus the cold weather package. That is the only thing that is no longer available on the A4 Avant from what he told me.
So far that $39K is looking like a mighty good deal, but I know I can probably work it down a little bit more and I still have to see what the other dealership quotes me as well.

Little late, but I'll put in my
My wife has an A4 and loves it. Loves it so much she now wants an A5. This would leave me to believe that you'll love the A3... so go for it! It's been relatively problem free and the dealer service is the best I've ever received.
OK, now, where's my change?

^ It's true, I did not. I skipped right to the end. I will take my loss in full, like a man.
I stand by my statement though... except to edit it to say that you'll love the A4

The A4 avant is a really good choice as well. I had an Ibis S4 Avant on order last year around this time. I had to cancel that out when we purchased the MDX. BMW should offer it's 3 series sportswagon with the N54 motor...

All that car is missing is the Titanium Package IMHO which they don't offer on that car. All blacked out grille, window trim and interior trim would look on a white S4.

i definately like the a3, my friend has been thinking about getting this or the new 3 series. i told him the 3 series is too nice for a 19 yr old.
anyways i've seen a few more of them fixed up and i like them. they're pretty rare, somewhat like the cl. good trade up

Well, my wife and I went into the dealership this past Saturday and placed our order.
2008 A4 Avant Special Edition 2.0T (6spd)
Ibis White
S-Line Package
Titanium Package
Nav + iPod
Convenience Package
Rear Side Airbags
Rear Manual sunshades
Bluetooth
Summer Performance Tires
We got the car for $250 over invoice, although I'm sure they made their money somewhere. We also got approved for the 2.9% deal which was a good feeling. Now we just have to wait to see when we will be getting the car. The internet manager wasn't sure if they would be able to alter one of their allocated units to match our specs or not. If they can, we'll get it within 6-8 weeks, otherwise it'll be 2-3 months.
Either way I'm and I can't wait.
Next task, find a buyer for the CL-S

Congrats!!!!
This is going to be the year for VERY low automobile interest rates.
...they are going to get lower and lower as the year goes on.
Slow car sales market + fed lowering interest rates = win - win for consumer financing!

Well I heard back from the dealer.
They could not alter an allocated unit so they had to special order our car.
It will be 6-8 weeks after it goes into production. The question is we don't know when it'll go into production

deep down I was actually hoping for it to take slightly longer to give me more time to sell the CL and to save up more for the down.
