Oregon trooper pulls over six exotic cars

http://www.cnn.com/2009/CRIME/04/24/...gon/index.html

Cliff's: The trooper pulled over a group of Ferraris, Lamborghinis, and an Acura NSX that was reportedly racing on a stretch of freeway at over 100 mph in a 55 mph zone.

They all got a "speed racing" violation, a serious offense.

One of the drivers was pulled over a second time later in the day.

I guess if you can afford the car, you can afford to pay the ticket. I'm sure that trooper will be telling his grandkids about this one.

Obviously they weren't going fast enough if all 6 of them got pulled over by a single cop...

But then again I'm sure that those Canadian registered exotic owners are not too worried about some ticket.

From the CNN article:

"They just were all good little soldiers and pulled right over," Oregon State Police spokesman Lt. Gregg Hastings told CNN.
...
They were all cordial and cooperative, and were cited with speed racing, a class A traffic violation that can command a fine of $627, Hastings said.
Thanks for the other link. My goodness, there's a lot of anti-Canadian sentiment there!

Well, if they were from Canada and wanted to race, why didn't they go to Montana. Where the men are men and the sheep are....Um, you get the idea.

Isn't there no limit on the interstate in Montana? I would think there would be less to hurt there, or maybe Nevada. No reason to try this in Oregon.

if it's only a $650 ticket, that's not bad.
they'd probably get it a lot worse here, apparently 50km over the limit and you get wreckless driving, and your license suspended.
i'd just be worried about it affecting my license. And for these guys, that money is probably not a lot

I would have pulled over too, because all the trooper had to do was radio ahead to other troopers. The exotics would eventually have to stop and maybe face bigger charges for evading the law.

Yeah, the state would rather spend 300 million a mile on a commuter train that only a few thousand people use per day

Thats a lot of buses and paved roads right there.

Oregon has the loudest pavement of any state I've been to. It's not just 26 over the coast range.

How much do you wanna bet the registration increase Premier Dictator Kulungoski is instating will be spent on bike lanes and boxes instead of fixing our fucked up roads?

I love Oregon but I hate the dumbasses that run it and the dumbasses that keep electing them.

That sucks. If I could afford a supercar, I'd love to buy one and drive it FAST..but you can't without risking points, hefty fines, and possible suspension of driving privileges. Where's a Maryland license when I need one? I missed having it; they don't acknowledge points accrued in other states. NJ sucks!

Yep! It was an awesome privilege while it lasted. I got a bunch of speeding tickets in New Jersey and never got a single point for them (not counting the tickets I got with my NJ license lol). I only had to pay the fines, but I'm sure everyone on this forum would prefer to pay a fine than accumulate points. Now I'm waiting for my yearly point deduction I've earned by avoiding the accumulation of any points for the past year.
