hey, I'm planning to change my battery on my 02 civic (70k miles) and I heard that optima batteries are good!!! did all of u heard about this or can you give me any suggestion as to which battery to purchase.

Anything done to your Civic that would require a better battery? Like a high-wattage stereo system or something?

Otherwise it would be a waste of money. You can get an ordinary battery for like 50 bucks, whereas a Yellow Top runs for about 170 bucks and a Red Top about 120.

 

Optimas are overkill for the civic. Unless, like PureAdrenaline said, you are running a hight watt stereo system, or other electronics, in which case, you'd probably need a stronger alternator too. Just get a regular die hard battery.

 

thanks guys! i do have an alpine-panasonic DVD-TV combo on my civic (all speakers are stock), so does this require a good-expensive battery or just the regular ones?

 

^^^ No, it does not. I'm assuming you have no external amplifier since you are using stock speakers.
