My car has some little issues like a loose engine cover that the dealer cant seem to fix and rattles under full throttle, squeaky brakes, and this weird dieing cat noise coming from the rear brakes when they are cold. As saisd above most of the major problems got sorted out for 05 and the 06 will be a lot better. But most of the problems came form the '04 V6, my dealer warned me not to trade down from a V8 to a V6 when i was talking to him about the gas, they said the extra money spent at the pump is well worth avoiding the problems with the V6s.

That's crazy.. how can you put up with it???
I would be livid, I have a QX4 infinity and I just had maintenace done at 60k. miles, outside of oil changes, new tires and brakes I never had anything done and it runs like a timex watch. My Honda S2000 never a issue and it blows the door off an Boxster. My TL not a problem. I had a 98' maxima that I did abosolutely nothing to except oil, brakes(at 50k miles no less), tires and 60k maintenance and at 66k I traded it in and got $6700. I don't understand the I like the car so much that I am willing to get screwed, that just does not make sense. That's why I stick with Japanes cars in general. I don't have enough time to sleep, forget spending it at teh dealer, I rather spend it with my family or doing something enjoyable, like driving my S2000 without having going in to the shop afterwards.

. How can you (stangg172004) say that you love a car that has so many problems?? If it were my car, it would be gone and a Lemon Law would be filled, especially if I paid $50K for it!!!

As far as the two SUV's in discussion, I'd prefer the Lexus. Its classier, the navigation system is top notch (VW navi is pitiful), and Lexus reliability is probably the best in the industry, far superior to that of VW's. My friend's parents have a GX470 that I have driven in a number of times and that thing is so smooth. If you want a sporty SUV, your looking at the wrong two SUV's.

there are zero mechanical problems with the car. And the problems are small and nothing that would make the car dangerous. A sqeek from the brakes isnt that bad, i would not go through the lemon law process just for a squeek. I guess to each there own, i dont mind these small problems but ur damn straight if at anythime these things got dangerous or began to get extremly annoying i would get rid of the thing.

SUVs suck balls, but to choose the lesser of two evils, I would go for the VW

I would go with the Lexus. However, since both cost around $56,000 the way I would want it, I would rather spend $62,000 on an X5 or $61,000 on an ML500.

1. Would never buy an SUV.
2. Would never ever EVER buy a VW. Too unreliable.
3. Neither have outstanding looks IMO, and both are gas guzzling gluttonmobiles.

But if I HAD to pick one, I'd go with the Lexus.

Just make sure not to get the Touareg with Navi...It's a disaster. Definately the worst navi unit on the road today. My preference tho, even though everyone and their other mother has the GX, I would still prefer that over the VW. It's not as sporty, but it's definately a better overall SUV.
