Oil Change

Hi everyone,

Just need some opinion on my situation. I'm from NorCal and about to drive down to Socal. The estimated total miles I will be driving in the next 4 days is about ~1100miles. About ~ 600-700 miles will be on the highway and the remainder will be city.

Issue:
My car and ILX 16 is showing my oil life percentage to be 20%. Do you guys think this is ok? Should I get an oil change before I go? I don't really have time to do an oil change before I go though is another problem.

Thanks for your time!

maintenance minder comes up roughly every 6,000 miles. 20% of that is 1,200 miles.

Have fun on your trip!

Car won't blow up if you go to or even past 0% on oil life. From all the used oil analysis reports I've seen from Honda's and Acura's, there's still some life in the oil even at 0%.

It's like with the fuel. Your trip computer might say you have 0 miles left of fuel or low/empty fuel light may be on, but you can still drive another 30 miles or more to get to a fuel station and not be stranded.

When I worked for a Honda dealer I saw a maintenance minder on a Civic that was 8700 miles overdue.

You'll be fine.

Enjoy your trip. Change the oil and filter after.
