...This decade, March 5th, 2000.
In SoCal of all places!! Which means it was probably $1.25 in most of the country.

On March 5, 2000 at 6:11 Pacific Standard Time Southwest Flight 1455, a Boeing 737-3T5, overran the end of the runway while landing at Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport. It crashed through a metal blast wall and then through the airport perimeter wall and came to rest on Hollywood Way, a four-lane city street, near a Chevron gas station. Of the 142 airplane occupants, 2 received serious injuries, and 42 received minor injuries.

Yep, I remember paying in the mid-80's for gas just after I started driving in the mid- to late-90's. I also remember moaning about $1.50 gas .

...and the 6.63/gal gas in I Am Legend seem ominous and inevitable.

The price of gasoline has finally gotten to where it was when I had my first car.. relatively speaking, of course. Prices for premium are now about 14 times what they were back then and my income has increased by slightly more than 14 times what it was then.

Crazy, eh?
