Oh man, my dad's friend just got a brand new M3 right off the boat!

I gotta get a ride in that thing.

He got a stick though, not the cool new automatic with the adjustable shift speeds. (Said he couldn't be too picky because they only bring a few in at a time and it was between red, blue, and gunmetal grey and he thought the red and blue were ugly so he got the gunmetal.)

Damn, I gotta see this beast.

Aren't they made in South Carolina or some place here in the states? (I know there's no Euro delivery program for the M and Z-series). Beautiful cars, nonetheless.

The M3, M5, Z8 are built in Germany- M roadster, Mcoupe are not.

If I got an M3 it would be the Gray metallic, or Imola Red.

i think they come here w/o the motor? cause i saw a pic, and they all looked raised in the front. But it just may of been the spacers

You're right. Here's the scoop from bmwusa.com: "Z3, X5, M coupe, and M roadster models are not eligible for the European Delivery Program because BMW builds these vehicles at its Spartanburg, SC, plant."

The SMG is not available yet. Only 6 speed manual trans.

ALL M3s always were and still are made in Germany.

There is no "gun metal gray" or "metallic gray" color available. The closest color that is available is Titanium Silver

It is just the spacers. All 3 series BMW have spacers installed when shipped.

Sorry for my misinformed sidetrack. Let us know what you think when you get a ride.

The "Build Your BMW" feature at bmwusa.com does list Steel Gray Metallic as an option for the M3.

Really? I haven't been to that site lately. It must be a new color offering, because I know they didn't have that color available before.....

Yeah, the gunmetal grey is a new color.

Yes the SMG would be so frickin' sweet, but I guess it's not out yet?

Either way this guy wanted the stick, so it worked out best for him.

I really gotta see it sometime soon.

Yeah, they probably did like Acura did with the Aegean Blue and introduced it mid-year. Looks like a nice color!

What makes you say that? The SMG is basically a manual gearbox with a computer controlled clutch. There is no torque converter like an automatic.

it's good that he didn't get auto... the M beamers should all be driven stick. i would know because my mom drives a 95 M3 auto and basically it sucks compared to my friend's 97 M3 stick.

A co-worker is getting a convertible (actually two of them). It will be an interesting test drive. And in a few months I'll probably see one every other mile on the highway

Personally I'd prefer an M5, hopefully once the CLS lease is up

There was one at the car show a bunch of us went to down at GMU - it had a (kinda weak) system in it and a DVD setup playing the Matrix.

The car was so beautiful (even if the system was kinda weak).
