Oh boy! His Factory Five AC Cobra is almost street ready!!

For the past 3 years, my next door neighbor has been building a Factory Five replica of the 1965-66 427 AC Shelby Cobra. He has it registered with plates and it's all painted and beautiful. Just needs to do some final adjustments (the TPS setting is not stationary.. it moves, thus causing his idle to rise). It needs to be inspected and then he's good to go.

For power, of course there is no Ford 427 NASCAR side oiler big block under the hood. These replica kits are made to take the small block Ford, though I believe you can get them for the big block. He currently has a crate 302 CID engine, bored and stroked to 331 cubes with AFR aluminum heads, a Comp roller cam, 1.7 rockers, of course headers-to-side-pipes, and a full after market intake manifold with plenum and everything else. Over 400 HP in his 2300 pound car.

Absolutely beautiful!!

I remember seeing their kit years ago at a car show up at the Boston Expo center. I was impressed by the fact that they use alot of the components from a donor car.

Looks like they have improved on the design too...

Gentlemen, I apologized for the no pics. I can tell you it's silver (looks like there is a slight hint of bronze in the silver) with two black racing stripes running the length of the car (painted, not taped). He's running a tremack (spelling?) 5-speed with 3.73 gears in a Thunderbird IRS rear. Of course, 4-wheel disks. The side pipes are ceramic coated (like a silver glaze) with Halibrand wheels just like the original. Nerf bars for bumpers. And just flat gorgeous. Timeless beauty.

Who was the guy on here that bought one? I remember it wasn't an FFR, a similar kit, but with all new parts?
