Official Lexus Discussion Thread

thought i'd start a thread here...i go on club lexus every now and then, but it just doesn't have the same vibe as Azine....maybe i've been on azine longer and have met some great friends on here, but a lot of those lexus guys are...yeah... who else owns a lexus that still lurks on here?!

i'm on here more then clublexus....normally just go in to check out the 2IS section ad the vendor section.

Acura has been in my family since 2001 when my father picked up a mint 1991 Legend coupe LS. always had an acura until recently last year.

an IS-F or 350 maybe my next car in a year or two.

Owen of SC430 here. Only visit clublexus for second generation SC section. Pretty helpful tips but not enough interest to keep me around.

i think AZ just has a different type of crowd. you can see it when you go to the meets. CL meets are bigger though....but i think because more people there have more heavily modified cars (and the mods cost way more and there's lots more of it), they think theirs is better...

I like a few different Lexus models. I have considered a few in the past as well. I used to really really like the 96 ES300 when they first came out. lol Currently I wouldn't mind having an AWD GS350. The LS 460 is great too. Just way out of the price range. As for the ISF I think they did a great job, but for the price I'd have to buy my pre-owned NSX that I've wanted forever.

As far as car forums, I had previously owned 2 Integras in the past, as well as my father having 2 as well. Team-Integra.net is by far the most informative car forum out there. Most of their articles pertain to cars in general, not just Integra specific. It was very strict and all integra all the time. I visit from time to time to catch up on the articles.

When I got rid of those I had my 05 RSX-S and joined club.rsx and that site sucked. Full of idiots, and iterweb thugs. Acurazine is by far the most mature car forum I have been on. I love it. Not to mention it's very informative as well.

Regarding Azine: Honestly, I peruse many other car forums and none come close to Acurazine. I've never owned an Acura product (though I've owned several Hondas, inc. my current 07 AV6) and have primarly owned a number of Nissans over the years but, I have always been drawn to the discussions on this board.

As a number of former Acura owners have migrated to other brands (notably Infiniti, BMW and Lexus), I've come close to recommending the creation of an Azine/Acura alumni sub-forum where discussions of this nature could be posted.

i still have my 99 es300 with 135k on the clock. i'm going to run it until the wheels fall off. CL is real boring, but like everyone else, i just look at the model specific forums and avoid the rest of the site.

and btw, the 09 tl looks like ass(exterior), but so did the 04 when it came out, and i eventually liked it

My sister has an ES350 and its great, a lot of cool features and a silky smooth ride. I don't like the floating and featherweight steering though.... its disturbingly unnerving.

That aside I've always thought about getting an LS400 and just semi-VIPing it. Nothing too crazy, mild drop, classy wheels with a mild lip.....

I agree, I've searched for a good Infiniti forum, and found a half decent one in Nicoclub, but the member activity doesn't come close to AZ.

Back to topic, I was never a real Lexus fan, until I drove my friends 2001 ES, such a smooth as ride, and even though it’s a 7 year old car, it still breathes luxury when you sit in it. He's currently in the market for an 05 LS. Only Lexus I could see myself owning is probably a 06 GS300.

My uncle has a LS 430 and damn. That car is so silent and smooth. Not only that but for a powerful V8 he averages about 20 MPG.

My suit is on. But I really like the new LX570. I'm not crazy about the outside looks but the interior is extremely nice; great build and SUPER luxurious. I would love to have one of those bad boys, despite the 13 mpg city rating and $84,000 price tag.

I don't know if MattG would agree with me, but I'm on LegacyGT.com, and that board is OK, with some good folks and smart ones, but the vibe is not the same. Plus, the people here seem to be a bit more accepting about other cars and opinions. Azine fits me just fine.....

I just bought a blue IS-F in September and I'm enjoying the hell out of it. I hang out at clublexus (just the IS-F subforum... they don't seem too douchey there) and the hot talk right now is exhausts and ECU tuning. My profile name there is "nuttybar08".

I joined A-zine way back when I bought my wife's 2004 TL and have been here on and off ever since. It's a great forum and that's why I intend to hang around regardless of what car I'm driving.

I've been on club lexus, some nissan forum, bimmerfest, just joined a Mazda forum and nothing comes even close to Azine. It takes about 3 days for a response on the Mazda forum.

Clublexus is stricter than azine. I like it there and it's pretty organized.

don't own a lexus and never have.

but i'm a fan of the IS, GS, and LS, and the new ES looks much better than its previous generations.

however, not a fan of their SUVs.

can anyone confirm that lexus is still building the GS-F?

Looks like it will be a 2012 model

I think the GS430 has a perfect balance between sport and luxury with reliability. At least when I had my GS400, the car was solid, fast, comfortable and stylish......an 06 430 will most likely be my next purchase.

I wanted a LS430; now THAT drives like a boat...

Good point. I think coming from the 911, the difference in handling is so much more pronounced. Plus the GS430 is a large car, though not as large as the ls430. I'm a big fan of RWD and the v-8.

You have lived the handling experience, you're not going to find any large sedan a "handling machine" unless you go with an M5 or something of that sort....

True. I drove the M6 and while the straightline speed was outstanding, especially when pressing the "M" button, the large size of the vehicle and pronounced weight made city driving more of a chore than a pleasurable experience. Especially with the SMG slushbox that's noticeably inferior to the Audi DSG. I haven't driven a manual M5 so can't really comment there. One small complaint I have about the GS is the little control box on the driver's left side that drops down and hits the left outside knee. Very impractical when driving but fine to use when parked

very similar story for me. i had an integra from 15-19 and was always on team-integra. still have some shirts that i wear from TI. the site was just way too strict and too boring. if you did a photoshoot w/a friend who has an s2k and posted pics of both cars then just the s2k; the whole thread would get deleted. ALL INTEGRA ALL THE TIME. but the articles section was awesome and i've never seen anything like that since.

then as i was looking into a new car i wanted to get an rsx-s. but the longer i was on that forum, the more sick i got of the people there and knew that an rsx was not for me.
so then i was looking into getting either an e36 m3 or a ua5. bimmerforums was really nice but all the people there are way too rich and cocky for my taste plus i liked the smaller community of azine.

cliffs:i picked the tl type s instead of an rsx-s or m3 because i liked azine.

I most definitely agree! I'm 6'4 and that's the one thing that really bothers me about the car.

The manual M5 is fun to drive, but once again; it's weight is going to make a huge contribution to how it handles. After driving what you drive, it's going to be pretty difficult to go to anything that heavy. You're just going to have to get a

Lexus? not interested.

I'd have to mod the hell out of an early 2000's LS430 and replace it with Legend-like steering feel.
