Flat black doesn't do much for me, except for maybe on classic cars. There's just something about a beautifully detailed, clean-looking, reflective-pearl-metallic paint job on current cars that just grabs my attention a lot more. The flat paint just doesn't show off the lines as much and makes me want to grab a towel and get the shine back.

just an FYI, most of these flat black paint jobs you are seeing are very expensive. A clean matte job takes more coats (if done right and cleanly) then most shiney ones. The cool thing is most of them have a ton of clear in them and can be sanded down to a shiney finish later on.
Although, i'm not talking about the primer jobs (like on that datsun), that shit's dirt cheap.
