Secret Agent Style: James Bond Lotus Evora
January 26, 2011
By James

The amphibious white Lotus Esprit driven by Roger Moore as James Bond in 1977’s The Spy Who Loved Me gets all the attention, but as true enthusiasts know it’s not the only Lotus in 007’s storied arsenal. Less flashy but of equal appeal is the bronze Lotus Esprit Turbo with gold racing stripe he takes skiing in Cortina, Italy in 1981’s For Your Eyes Only (where do you think Jon Olsson gets his ideas from?). Now the UK’s Lotus Silverstone has created a tribute to the classic with a Bond-styled Lotus Evora equipped for secret agent style ski trips, priced at an eminently reasonable €53,500.

Of course when images of the 007 Evora first surfaced, rumors caught on that it was in fact going to be the next Bond car. While we don’t see Daniel Craig giving up the keys to his Aston Martin anytime soon, it would be a nice nod to the past were the Evora to put in an appearance in the as-yet untitled Bond 23, due out in Nov. 2012. Who knows, it may turn out to be a self-fulfilling prophecy. Meanwhile a few lucky journos got to tool around in the 007 Evora in the French Alps as part of a Lotus promo. They did not however get to have sex with Carole Bouquet.

I know nothing about VW Bugs, but would love to own one. Very iconic and would love to have one to cruise around in.

Friend of mine did a build of a '65 bug in high school. Among its many other features, he had the engine bored out to 2110cc and installed dual carbs. The thing was mega fast.

Also seems like Jon had a GT-R for some time as well.
Yep, I could drive my AWD street ride in the snow with a Yak rack and a box on top, but the RDX is more practical and I don't need to look cool. I'm ugly, fat, old and I can't get young pussy anymore, so who cares. "Jon" is good looking, fit and still under 30.

Yummy-thanks for the Datsun pictures. They brought back great memories.

I bought a brand new 280Z while I was in college. It was the first new car I ever bought. It was brown and I added front and rear spoilers, mag wheels, rear window louvers, I even had to buy a passenger side blind spot mirror for it (they didn't come standard at the time).

I had it for so many years! When it was time to get out of the car, I sold it to a young guy who worked for my father. He promptly wrapped it around a tree.....

When I heard that, I was really sad-it was a truly bad-ass car!

I will always love the Datsun...it was one of my fave cars growing up as a kid and still remains so to this day.

And I agree with knight rider, I would love to restore one one day...

here is some lame bitching, but I can never understand these mega-rich people. if I had that much money, no way in hell I would buy 3 of the same car, in different colors. that makes zero sense to me. it just sounds like a waste of money. but maybe that's why, I'm not rich.

If one really likes the car, didn't care to buy other types of cars, and had the money, why not.

Maybe some of them are modified and others aren't. Just playing devils advocate.

Well, to be honest...if I were mega-rich, I would have one Aston Martin DBS in every color.

And I'm being serious.
