Nothing like the sound of that V8... but the power of the SC V6 comes in earlier. I'd imagine the V6 weighs less, too.

What about modability?

Honestly, I'd probably be happy with either.

Interior is night and day difference.

I feel like getting 2009 S5 for cheap price then a 2013 for $60k+
but I've never heard good things about S4 V8, we have a member here that owns one as well..

I bet the gas is better on V6, + yeah lighter
but getting 2013 makes you say, you gave all that money and no V8 rumble

2012 probably has better quality then 2009 but, since they look the same, why pay extra for 2012...just buy the new one b8.5 2013

I hate this hahaha

Alright my dad has owned both a 2008 S5 6MT which had the V8 and has a '12 Cab 7 speed DSG with the V6.
From experience obviously the V8 sounds way better. The car had an AWE exhaust with downpipes and that was one of the best sounding engines I have ever heard. It was super loud yet the sound was literally sex for your ears. The 3.0T sounds nice. The cars also has an AWE system with downpipes and it sounds super nice for a V6. When you up shift a drop of gas is dropped in the exhaust which makes a cool "fart" noise. Like a thud. The V6 is defiantly faster especially with the STaSIS ecu flash and intake. Gas mileage wise the cab will get 26-27 cruising downtown (26 miles of highway). Whole the old coupe would get about 24-25 if your foot was light. Now that doesn't factor in a lead foot. My father and I have quite a heavy right foot. The cab gets about 19-21 in everyday driving around town while the coupe probably 17-19ish.

After pondering the thought for a week or so now i picked up my 2009 Audi S5 this morning! My dad and i were talking last week and he said i could sell my Golf R and get an '09 S5 if i wanted. Needless to say i took the deal and i love my new baby! My buddy owns a shop down in denver and he had an AWE exhaust w/ Non-Res DP's ready and waiting for me once i picked up the car and i had it installed within 3 hours of ownership. The car is going to be a 4.2l V8 550HP monster by the end of the year (hopefully summer) via an APR supercharger and a BUNCH of goodies. (Look at my R thread for details) When you stomp on it in 2nd gear getting on the highway it is literally the greatest sound ever. The car is Ibis White w/ tuscan brown interior, prestige model, every option possible and of course a 6 speed manual. Here is a link to some pics of the car!

The 2012 is worth the extra money in that the MMI has been completely revamped. Even the non-navigation version is better.

That said, if it were me, I'd wait and get a 2013 used if you didn't want to buy new. The 3.0T is a better engine than the 4.2. It just is. And I like the refresh better than the older version. Plus warranty is a good thing on a car you are buying used. Even if it's just long enough to know you didn't get something traded because it was going to catch on fire.

If you're set on a V8 I would look at a CTS-V and a C63 Coupe too. All about the same price new (and probably used) and those two are V8s.

V8 pushes me away because of MPG + old interior + slower than 3.0T
but right now $25K difference is too much but I guess waiting for a year and getting an used B8.5 sounds better.

Real deal why I want the new one is because I know I will keep the car for a long time..
That's why do it once do it right..

Graduating and starting working after summer...will keep the TL but will buy an Audi as well.

If I stay in states, CTS-V wagon will come when I have kids..
I don't like Benz as a sports car

Audi is what I love since 1998, especially that MT knob and the way you sit inside the console...
No Benz, no Bimmer...Audi guy here

Only problem is RS5 steering wheel has Paddles i have a manual... Im thinking of having Matt at OCarbon do my trim in carbon or ill do piano black which looks sooo nice. The 3.0T isn't much faster than the V8... Today me and my dad had a little race and from 0-100 his car has got me with that SC but we did a pull from about 75ish-130ish and i had about 1 1/2 car lengths on him...

How is the 3.0T a "better" engine? The 3.0T is more for the people that want great amounts of power but also want good gas mileage. The V8 is more for a person that loves the sound of the engine and gas mileage isnt a big deal and just wants that brute force of a big V8 pulling you along. I personally prefer the 4.2 over the 3.0T. But the 4.2 has been known to have some reliability problems... My dads '08 S5 had no problems at all through its 45,000 mile life.

and if I drive over 80, my dad will go... "watch your speed, there are always lots of cops around"

I'd love to do runs with my dad haha although for us it would be an accord vs acura and I'd lose

We both have Valentine1 radar detectors hopefully getting jammers soon. All through my child hood he would speed everywhere and he still does. So I just say dad you were the one who set the example of speeding so you can't criticize me speeding.

Oh yeah it is
Screams like friggen F1 when you open up the valve
Bros friend had it on his M3 and was the loudest car in Boston area. $4.5 though

He traded his brand new M3 and placed an order on custom M3 waited for it couple months
They installed full titanium akrapovic to it now, that's $5.5
^23kg by the way

I am awaiting a 2013 S6 to be delivered to my dealer in the next couple of weeks and they will call me for a test drive. If I love the car as much as I think I will, I will put in a build order as soon as the 2014's are available

I'm pretty excited, I love the interior of the S6's, but I will never order a car before test driving a model. The dealer tried to convince me to order a 2013, said I would have more success, but I didn't bite. My S4 is just over a year old, so I really am not in a rush. Btw I will not be trading the S4 in, that will most likely go to my gf

Watched Motorweek's review of the S6.

0-60 in 3.8 seconds

I would to love to have one. And it is $12k less than a M5.

I have decided there is only one BMW I would love to own, that is the X6, I love Audi and will probably stick with them for a while, or until they make a mess out of the front end, like another company I know........
