O/T: What's the reliability in the Audi line A4 or A6?

When this phine PDG comes of age, I'm thinking to go with the larger A4 or the A6, but I don't really hear much in regards to reliability. Any of you can 411 me?

I know from experience! They are GREAT cars and good service too.

Everything is included from oilchanges to brake pads, to wipers..

Everything but tires..

I have ahd nothing but good experiences with them, and my family previously owned a 99 A8 4.2 and never had problems either.

This is our current line up

2001 CL-S, 2001 A6 4.2, 2001 Allroad..

I have to go with BLK CLS on this one. My ex has an A6 Quattro. Great car, vault like, not particularly fast but adequate. Maintenance is wonderful, they cover most everything. The loaner car is up to the individual dealer. When she lived here, it was great. In Michigan, no loaner cars. I may go with an A4 myself but it ain't bigger than a CLS! Back seat is just as cramped. A6 on the other hand is bigger with better amenities. Fold down seats, heated rear seats, no seat memory though. At least not in the 2000 A6.

2001 + has everything..

Either get the 2.7 which can be chipped to be REAL FAST. Also available in 6 speed if that is your thing.

Or get the 4.2 autobahn cruiser. When I raced it stock I would only pull after about 60mph. Don't underestimate it. But I am sure it would kill me on the highway. I hit the speed limiter at 130 mph and it feels like your asleep. I drove for about 30 minutes at 125 way up in the country. i have brought my Cl up to the limiter at 150 but this thing is just so made for it

With the sport package this thing is a beast. They come with 255/40/17 tires on the 4.2 sport package stock.

And yes they have memory seats for driver + passenger.

We always get a loaner car.

The 2.8 is a dawg.. is that what your ex had? I mean it is ok, but not my style.

Ohh and try to beat quattro in the snow!

Even in the rain or any situation, I love the quattro, I wish the CL had it.

It was a 2.8L and for her it was great. It just wasn't fast. But you are right, in the snow, it is a monster. I remember getting caught in 8 inches of snow in Middletown, NY 2 years ago with my son. We never went under 45 MPH all the way home (55 miles). It was unbelievable in the snow on stock tires.

Ya but the men's options are only 2.7T and 4.2

2.7 T (250hp and a crazy torque curve), Stock 0-60

6 speed = 6.0
Tiptronic = 6.6

4.2 (300 hp, 300 ft/lbs) 0-60
=6.6

This is because the 4.2 gearing is different and is designed more for the highway. Test drive both, but the V8 torque is uncomparable, unless you are going to chip your 2.7..

Here is a dyno image of a chipped 2.7. Look at that torque! 360 from 2200!
