NY to SoCal with '49 MGTC in August?
Just curious if anyone thinks this sounds fun, i've got a chance to make the drive to pick the car up for my pops and am intrigued by a x-country trip in it....just not sure if in August. I know I can't go much faster then 65 in the thing...and really no AC. I've done x-country more then a few times, and done a lot of traveling in old cars, but not to this extent.
I'm 50/50 on it right now...was curious if anyone has ever driven one (or something similiar) for a good distance? Is it just going to be miserable?

DO IT!
j/k
A guy I work with has 2 of them and he drives each one to work once a week assuming the weather is nice. After seeing his in person there is no way I would drive that thing for a hour let alone x-country.

Know what it is and prefer the TD. However if you have the time and patience, it could be a great trip.
As mentioned a video blog would be great.
Are you going to wear the funky leather aviator/driver hat from the early part of the 20th century to make it look authentic?

Time, money, patience all required. Smaller body type also an advantage. Good health and a spirit of adventure will also help. Do you have a potential list of where to get help if required?
I would do it I met the above conditions. The back-up plan of renting a trailor and truck if necessary would also be nice.

Being a smaller dude would obviously help... but not much Scott can do about that
Although you do bring up a good point. If it gets really uncomfortable or if you have a break down you could always rent a pick-up and a trailer from u-haul and tow it back home.

decided not to do it...just because I don't know this car yet (not sure how reliable it is). We will ship it and the wife and i will do a trip up the coast
Old British Car = I think I agree; not 3000 miles w/o unlimited time & money. Perhaps with a parts car and mechanic.
