NSX's getting into 300,000 miles, original motor
These cars run forever, they call this one pristine. I have 32k on mine, few more years and I will be there.

In all honesty, I don't know why people say X & X car couldn't do this. Sure they could....if a car is properly maintained it'll run for a LONG time

yes you're right about properly maintaining a car. but, this is my thinking if the repairs costs more than what the car what is worth, i don't think it is worth keeping.
i would've probably be still driving my first car from a hand me down from my folks a 1988 Accord Lx-i if I had everything fixed, but the price of repair was worth 2 times as much as the car. if i had kept it and added 133,000 miles I had on the 88 Accord to the 99 Accord, and now 04 TSX, i would have only 278,800 total if i kept the 88 Accord.

It's maintenance ... I'm afraid of expensive parts.
Like what a Lotus Esprit Turbo costs:

these days going into 300k miles goes beyond just regular maintenance. YOu have to worry about all the electronics on cars sans the warranty. That is a scary proposition. Kinda sad actually.

This isn't your Grandma's Corolla that never sees anything above 4000rpms for the entirety of its operating life. This is a car that is pushing the limits of the technology that it was developed on - e.g. the piston speeds are very high - and at max attack its hitting 8000rpms. Not to mention that folks who buy such vehicles drive them HARD.
So yes, it is possible for other cars to go 300000 miles without major repair. But for a exotic to go 300000 miles without and engine/tranny overhaul and no major repairs is AMAZING. I guess the proof is in the pudding - I can't think of a single exotic car I've seen with over 200000 miles let alone 300000. Course most owners don't drive them that way, but I'd bet the house that any Ferrari/Lotus..., ESPECIALLY one from that era, could not possible have made it to 300000 miles in a 17 year period without SIGNIFICANT repairs. Heck, I don't think even a 911 from that time period let alone now could do that, even with regular maintenance and service.

My Shop Foreman has 157K on his 92 NSX. It's a daily driver as long as there isn't snow on the ground. The only thing that is wrong with it is the motor for the power antenna died (like they all do) and it's stuck in the up position, it makes it look like a big remote control car.

maintenance is key!
