Nissan Pathfinder Thoughts...

So my parents are looking for a large SUV, 6-8 passengers. They really like the Armada but are looking at a SRX cause of all the Employee discount and allowance crap they offer now. What do you guys think, pros cons?

SRX shoppers won't likely cross-shop the Pathfinder, but it's a truck's truck. Have they looked at Expedition. since they like domestic? I sometimes wish we had TWO, I love outs so much. More on topic, If I were in the market the Pathfinder's worth a look but Expedition pricing is pretty attractive, 300hp V8, heated/cooled seats, DVD, POWER FOLDING 3rd row seats, ful size interior. Check it out!

Not a big fan of the SRX. While it is nice for a GM product, there are constant reminders that it is indeed, just a GM product. However, pricing may be good right about now. Reviews are a mixed bag for this thing--some have been great, others have just been "blah".

The Armada is a great rig--it's massive. But since they're looking at it, they already know how big it is. There's plenty of room for ALL passengers, even in the third row. Plenty of headroom for all rows of seats. I find the exterior to be quite good looking--nice and aggressive. I like the big, thick badging--compliments the sheer mass of the vehicle. The interior has a good design, but is rather stark and quite plasticky.

My suggestion is to take them to an Acura dealer and let them check out the MDX. I'd say it's a good compromise between the two (size wise). Heck...even a Lincoln Aviator (or Navigator, for extra size) is worth checking out if they like domestic vehicles. Lincoln has really impressed me with these two vehicles.

If they want a deal.. get in on the Expedition. With the employee discounts & stuff you can get a killer deal on one. I'd stay away from anything GM. Just cause the way the company is right now.
The Armada is nice. I spent a few days & 1200 miles in one. It has some power, & room. It drives like a smaller SUV also. It's got a great sound system, the nav setup is nice. The interior does look a little cheap comapred to an MDX. But it's not problem.
If you reall want 6-8 passngers I'd stay away from the Pathfinder. It will meet the need, but there's not much room after you cram 6 people in it. It compares more to an Explorer.
The MDX is nice, but it's also is a bit small. Drive one & decide.

I like them both and have checked them out. The SRX is more like the MDX than an Armada. Being CTS-based, the SRX has 'carlike' characteristics which for me is a BIG pro but, it's probably a big con for truck and offroad folks.

For similar money, I'd get the SRX over the Armada....and I'm a Nissan owner (Quest, Maxima). The regular Pathfinder (on the otherhand) has a great powertrain and decent looks but its ergonomics dont come anywhere near the SRX.

The Armada is NOT roomy in the 3rd row. I'm 5'9 and my head hits the ceiling and I felt crowded. I think J.D. Power and CR have GM quality > Ford but I could be wrong. What GM problem with the company is hurting the car, Fuzzy?

GM stock is in junk status. There's just so much that can happen with GM. No way to tell how it will effect how they build cars.
The only GM car I'd buy would be the Corvette.

Except when it comes to depreciation, Caddys are fairly good GM products.

There may be some confusion in this thread. I forgot that the Armada is "officially" the "Pathfinder Armada", then there's the regular, smaller Pathfinder. Both good trucks, and they won't go wrong with either the Expedition or the Armada, or the smaller Pathfinder. The SRX is too pricey for what you get, but the MDX is also a good choice. I just don't think a transverse engine is the best solution for a SUV.
