about a year ago there was a rumor spreading about an upcoming nissan 4.5 ltr 450z coupe that woud be using nissan/infiniti's existing v8 engine. Just wondering if anyone has heard anything new about the car or it just died off. i would seriously consider buying one.

 

hell yeah i heard about that i would give my left nut for that car other than that i know somebody put a nissan titan motor in a z and tuned the motor for the car.

This was back when the VQ35DE maxed out at 298hp (SAE net) versus the VK45DE's 325hp (SAE net). Now the VQ37HR 350Z puts out 330hp (though the VK does have 66lb-ft more torque). So, I cannot envision a V8 in the Z until Nissan develops a higher output V8 (VK45HR?). and

 

i highly doubt that will happen. it might happen if BMW put a V8 in their 3 series.

G35 and 350Z have always share the same engine. If 350z becomes 450z, then there should be a g45 also. who is going to buy M and Q?

Would be damn cool if they built a 4.5 V8 Z-car tuned to about 400 hp...we haven't seen any great "pacific muscle" in damn near a decade. If Nissan could do one of those for $40-42k they'd probably sell well.

The VQ V6's are just not hot enough compared to the latest crop of Vettes in that price range. It would compete well with the C6, and blow the doors off the M3 in terms of dollars per HP.

 

I could see somebody swapping the titan motor into the 350z

 

...technically, that would then make it a 560Z.

infiniti/nissan is working on a new 5.0 v8...hence trademark names as M50, FX50......and maybe Q50??
