That will be one fun ride. To me, it is the still the epitome of a sports car.

Any thoughts on drivetrain??

That is one thing I am still contemplating on a project vehicle. I'll keep an eye on yours to see how well it goes.

how much would you be paying for the egine and all that stuff?

i feel like this car is gonna start getting pretty expensive. i was looking at the upgrades, it seemes like there is at least 5k worth of upgrades that just need to be gotten to make this car look like a real one.

I'd look at some of the other kits, i've seen this specific one up close and wasn't really that pleased w/ it.

Look into factory five!

The new cobra motors are getting a lot of play in classics these days, i've seen 2 in old school 57 t-birds and a bunch in old mustangs and a few old roadsters

The transmition will be a Tremac TKO600 five speed manual, with a blowproof bell housing, but I'm not sure of the cluch setup yet. The engine will be a Ford, (sorry CLpower), but I'm having trouble decing whether to go with an authentic bigblock, or the lighter, stroked Winsor. The authentic choice is an expesive and heavy option. I'll need to make that decision pretty quick as the motor mounts on the frame are different. The target HP\TQ is 500/500.

Actually there was an intro special that included many of the upgrades, and a lower cost on the kit, so I didn't do to bad.

a lot of fish tailing is an understatement

I actually came up with a plan C. An alluminum 427 block, (replica ), stroked to just under 500 c.i., which will end up being about the same weight as the iron block windsor.

http://www.genesis427.com/

The Genesis blocks will be offered as crate motors thru the Ford Racing catalogue, but I'm leaning towards a Keith Craft built motor using the Genesis, or Pond Motorsports alluminum block, with a 4.250 bore, and a 4.250 stroke Scat crank and H beam rods,(482 c.i.), JE forged 10:1 pistons , hydraulic roller Comp cam and roller rockers, Edelbrock alluminum heads and intake, ported, polished, MSD ditributor, Divinci carb, hot tested, run in, and tuned to over 600+/600+hp/tq, on 91 octane.

This go cart will be a driver,... but halfway to the left coast,....probably not.

All new parts!

I was heading the FFR direction, but the more I thought of all the blood sweat and tears, from tearing apart an old wrecked mustang, then grinding, blasting, finishing, and the questionable reliability of these parts, then hauling away the carcas,.... I started to look at buying new parts for the FFR kit instead. Allong came the Hurricane kit, with all new high end parts, and a special that included the suspension being installed, a few other upgrades, and $1000 discount. A couple of positive reviews from those in the know, and I was off and running.

I know alot about the FFR cars. Is the frame etc as stong on the hurricane car?

It looks pretty similar? What about the body? FFR cars are often criticised for their lack of the "original look" How are the details on this car?

This is something I've been wanting to do for a long time as well.

Good luck and keep us posted with pics.

The body is "correct" and has rolled edges in the cockpit, and wheel wells. The frame has a cross brace in the center, diagonal bracing to the rear riser section, and another cross brace at the front suspension mounting points. This thing is built to drive hard.
