So what happened to the OP? You think he's out ? I want to know all the goods this one has and I want to know whether its GT silver or Arctic.

iTimmy, you're right about the desirability of the 996, I'm just saying for the money, it's a hell of a deal (the 993's are actually holding up well with the "air cooled nostalgia factor"). Personally I'd take the Cayman S over anything that doesn't use the letters "G" and "T" in it's designation, it's the best handling car Porsche makes. Mid Engine is just sooooo nice.

I seriously have to try out the Cayman S one day. I'd love to get one but not getting a vert for the little nice time here bugs me. The Boxster as good as it is, is not a Cayman. The Cayman is often overlooked, in the 911's shadow. One little note though, when I sat in the Cayman last year at a dealership, I was blown away by the quality of it's sound system.

Its an 05, you can get a Carrera S in the mid $50k's...so you don't have to be a Rockefeller.

I'm guessing though, he doesn't have kids. Which would be a good start.

Anyway, looks good...enjoy it.

If I were the OP I would be spending more time with said toy and less with the Internets. It's kinda funny that a guy who will be driving a Porsche is telling us to "enjoy" pics. I will probably look at the pics; you will probably enjoy driving the car.

Congrats and welcome to the club I'm sure you'll fall in love with the c2s just as i have with mine. I like all your options. My personal favorite is the ASS (adaptive sport seats). How do you like the short shift thrower? Does yours come with PSE (porsche sports exhaust)? That's one option I'd consider. You don't really need the Bose. I have it but most of the time I have my windows down listening to the wail of the flat-6.

Oh, and clear out those pumpkin side markers stat! Clear markers FTW!

The Adaptive Sport Seats is really rare, in fact in all my lurking in the used 911 market I've had, I've never seen a car with them. Post up pics! Are they comfortable for longer drives or is it more of a raw racing seat?

I was the guy who listed the known and potential options, the OP hasn't come back to confirm the sport shift. My advice to you surfer rick is to head down to your local Porsche dealer and get your short shift kit, you'll like it. Although, if the OP wants to PM me his VIN, I can run it through the Porsche Network and get the full list of factory options and original MSRP as well as a list of work done under warranty (if any).

The adaptive sport seat takes the regular sport seat and adds independently adjustable thigh and torso side bolsters. If you're a skinny mofo like me they can close in on you so your locked in during hard cornering.

Anyone who orders a 911 without adaptive sport seats, sport steering wheel, and the sport (short) shifter is retarded in my book. That's just people who custom order though, you could drive yourself nuts looking for a used car like that. Although they are offering the "sport bucket seat" as an option now, essentially, that's a GT2 seat so that might trump the adaptive sport seat IMO.

BL, I testdrove a c2s with the short shift thrower and wasn't as much of a fan as I thought I would be. I guess I'm just used to longer throws. I have warm weather the year round so the issues about upshifting in cold weather between 1st and 2nd gears with the short shift thrower wouldn't be relevant. Perhaps I'll take a closer look. Next mod was going to be the PSE but I'm still keeping my options open.

The ASS hugs my skinny "ass" like a glove. The thigh and torso bolsters are to die for, even in daily driving. Trying to find the options I wanted was the reason it took 6 months of car shopping before I was satisfied. OTW, I would have had to custom order new from Stuttgart. It seems most 911s come barebone or optioned the f-ck out.

I was contemplating waiting for the 997.2 but I don't track and would have bought a 6-speed anyways so the whole "PDK" issue was irrelevant. Prolly just keep my c2s another 3 or 4 years until the 998 comes out.

its not like your suffering with a 997 C2S!

Is the PSE the way to go? As I understand it if you don't want to mod the car its a great way to get a more aggressive sound from the factory, however, if you are going to mod it there are better aftermarket options.

Very nice

I'm toying with a Porsche or a E55 right now. Keep going back and forth. I change my mind so many damn times that when I finally pull the trigger it will probably be neither

Oh and whatever you do... stay away from 6speedonline. It'll just make you want to spend more money on mods

The nice thing with PSE is it can be turned on or off with a push of a button.

You want the car to growl, turn it on. If you have a headache, turn it off.

BL, how do you feel about other aftermarket options like AWE or Fabspeed? On the forums, drivers seem to be either really for the PSE or against it.

BL, your recs on tires? I have the stock Michelin Pilot PS2s which are already showing significant tread wear after only 5K miles (I guess I have a heavy right foot)

I am leaning toward the Bridgestone REO50As but right now they are tough to purchase direct from TireRack. Pretty significant cost savings vs. PS2 ($321 vs $485 for rear tire). I heard that TireRack is dealing exclusively with porsche dealerships whom then markup the list price significantly before selling to consumer. True?

A C4S would be about as fun as foul weather cars get, I'm just not a Porsche fan at all. To each his own.
