New Weekend Toy
Here's the new toy. 2005 Carrera S with the usual options. These are the pics taken at the dealership before driving her back home. I haven't had the chance to clean her to take new pics. Enjoy!

Congratulations, she looks gorgeous. I've been contemplating picking up a 997S sometimes in the future. Do you mind sharing how much you paid and what options are installed? Once again, enjoy the ride and post more pics!

From what I can see,
19" Sport Design wheels, Sport Chrono Plus (with PASM but I don't think it has sport exhaust), black standard leather power seats, Xenon lights with headlight washer, floor mats (yeah they charge extra for that), sport steering wheel.
It kinda looks like it has a short throw shifter in it and I can't decide if it's GT silver metallic or Arctic Silver.
That's all I can find from the pics, but with a 911, it really doesn't matter what options it has, they all drive beautifully.

Congrats !! Beautiful choice and it's in a classic colored Porsche... I'm not a big fan of silver cars, but it just looks so right on a 911...
Depending on mileage, I'd guess 60s....
I've always wanted one too, but don't think I'd want to make the payments on one... A poor mans porsche (s2k, etc) would probably be a better option for some of us...

The shifter look normal to me, other wise your options list looks pretty accurate.

I thought the shifter looked a little "straight up" instead of "pushed forward", it doesn't actually lower it in a 997, it just shortens the throw.
I don't see a Bose logo on the door speaker, but there's only one pic that shows the inside of the door and the steering wheel could be in the way.

All 997's have the PCM 2.1 however, the nav module and telephone module were seperate options. If he doesn't have the nav module, that is just a trip computer and radio screen.

Factor in the great aftermarket support for these cars and the P-car community as a whole is fantastic, its one of the few vehicles I wouldn't hesitate to purchase used, assuming the car was in good shape. From my experience I've witnessed more BMW "cocks" then Porsche "cocks," that's not to say they don't exist, but they seem to be harder to find and typically drive base model's, i.e. the Cayman or the Boxster.

A couple of examples
X51 powerkit was a $16900 option (raises the hp from 355 to 381)
Ceramic Composite Brakes $8150
Full leather interior $3665
So right there I have 3 options that raised the MSRP by $28715. So if I was comparing 2 used 911's one with these options and one without, I could expect the one with them to be selling for 15-20K more than the one without.
The best deals on a Porsche right now are on the 996 bodies, they have dropped in price dramatically recently.

The problem with comparing used Porsche prices is that there is no set price for the vehicle when it was new. These are pretty close to being custom cars right from the factory, there are literally over 1000 ways you could configure a 911.

Yes the 996's are cheaper, often cheaper then good specimens of 993, however, the 996's are much less desirable, they had questionable interiors, some what common rear main leaks(in particular on the earlier models) and the headlight style only lasted for one generation. They just won't be as collectable in the years to come, I think the 997 will go down in the history books as the first liquid cooled 911 that Porsche got right. That's not to say a 996 is a bad car, but if it was between a 996 or a 987(Cayman S or Boxster S, if your a cabrio guy) I would probably go with the 987S. Then again if it wasn't my daily driver I think I would rather search for a mint 993, who's to say what's the right choice, in fact I think they are all pretty good choices!
