New TL confirmed by Acura rep!

Hi all,
Just spoke with the Acura Regional Rep about getting an extended tranny warranty on my 2000 TL(tranny replaced at 43,000). Not only did he extend my transmission warranty for another 12 months/25,000 miles, he also told me that the new TL will be debuting in Jan. at the LA auto show. He told me they know little, but every issue that has even been brought up against the current generation has been addressed on the new one. I told the guy that this was my companies 6th Acura( 86 Legend, 91 Legend, 94 Legend, 96 RL, 97 2.2 CL, 2000 TL, 2002 RSX on the way for son), and he was very accomodating. As far as the CL is concerned, he mentioned that the name will probably die, but Acura is far from done in the 2 door market, so for all of you who are considering migrating to the Infiniti camp, I'd wait to see what they have in store for us.

Regards,
Darryl

I don't see the logic of replacing the CL...It's a great car and now that there is better out there (G35), why doesn't Acura just improve the CL? Why bother replacing it with a new car?

what if the next TL came in 2 flavors:

a 2 door and a 4 door?!?

It would be very economical wouldn't you think.

Wrong ! According to them, the failure rate is far too few to alarm them as "tranny problems". That's why there is still no action taken by Honda after all these years.

Hey welcome to the board! Thanks for sharing that info.

And while Acura's PR department might deny the tranny problem, they certainly do know about it - the techs know about it so the word is definitely out there. It just pays to keep it quiet.

Well, the original Legend Coupe was not based on the sedan--different wheelbase and everything (and a bunch more money)--just shared the Legend moniker. I never kept track of the second generation, so I don't know there...
