im going to have to disagree with you here. it may not be a cararra, but its still a porsche, and even though i haven't driven it i can promise that its a lot of fun. i also doubt you fit in the s2k

i would go with the s2k

I'd love to own a porsche, but in this case, I'd probably suggest the S2000.

I'm sure the maintenance costs with the S2K would be alot lower, and the Boxster is considered by some to be a "porsche in panties" - Ralph on The Sporanos

I love Porsche. Boxsters are at the bottom of the list, obviously, but I'm still a huge fan.

I think a few of Jay Leno's articles got me into them.

i am really curious if porsche is a generational thing, because i have absolutely zero ambition to ever own a porsche...

this would be interesting if we could assign age groups to the votes

if you are car enthusiast i wouldn't think so, I think you would be hard press to find a better perfroming car than a gt3 at twice the price. that said a lot of the younger guys prefer flash rather than performance (stupid mtv) so that why you see all the wrappers with benzos, bentleys and luxury suvs

Throw me the keys to a GT3 RS and open up Laguna Seca for the day

Just something about driving a Porsche... even if it is the poor mans Porsche

Either way you will be happy, I love my s2k.

Beet is right, there is nothing like driving a Porsche. I am currently looking at the S. I drove the S2000, it was too small for me. The steering wheel would not adjust. When I closed the door, I felt like a sardine. I can fit in the Boxster S just fine.

In the end, it comes down to which one you like driving.

I've noticed even as the number of votes increases the percentages aren't really changing any more. I appreciate everyone's help, I think I am going to have a very serious talk about a 2006 S2000 with my dealer next week.

I say S2000 as well. It's brand new, got the glass window. Plus it's really fun to rev and toss into corners! You dont want a boxster, the porsche people consider that a poor man's porsche.

Whenever I see a boxter I always look for a MILF driving it. I feel it's a female car. Don't be a sorry dude who couldn't get a Carrera.

Image aside, (i)its still a porsche and (ii) have you ever driven one? Most of the negative image that comes with the boxster is from people who haven't ever driven one. Which ever I end up getting(more then likely the S2k) I still have an enormous amount of respect for the boxster and anyone who laughs at the BoxsterS is a fool. We are all entitled to our opinions, which is why I posted this and of coure I am aware of the poor mans porsche reputation the boxster has.

That being said a BoxsterS is so close to a Carrera in terms of performance I am shocked they still make a 911 convertible in non-turbo form.

that's probably why alot of the 996TT owners on the porsche forum I visit own boxsters as well and say when it comes to a nimble fun car the boxster is the one they take everytime
