New Mustang=POS Interior

I rented a Mustang GT with 600 miles on the odo and i hated every minute of it. Now, i have a 98 Trans Am and it has minor noises, but is fairly quiet and the interior materials are soft vinyls and plastics with some hard plastics in the mix. But The mustang has hard plastics everywhere. And it rattled like hell. It was so damn noisey that i returned it for another, only to find the same rattles and ear shattering squeeks agian. The "chrome" trim around the vents looks like cheap plastic, and cheapens the hell out of the already cheap interior. The Gauge cluster looks cheap. Everything in the car feels like it will break if you touch it too hard. Not to mention it had some of the same buttons my 98 Contour SVT had in it. It has the worse blind spots. And you have to be a gymnast to reach for the fucking seatbelt. They might as well place it in the back seat. At least my POS F-body has the seat belt attached to the seat for easy reach. I mean wtf. The handling was decent and the power and Torque were good. It could grow some more balls up top though. She runs out of breath past 4800 rpm(nothing some cams cant help). But seriously, now i understand why the car is so inexpensive.

I agree, the interior in that car is horrible.

Layout yes. But the quality of materials they use is a joke.

I'm glad i wasn't the only one that noticed the bramuta triangle hanging over your left shoulder, "where cars go to dissapear"

I too rented one, a non gt though. It just felt like it had been designed without talking to any engineers or ergonomics personel. The interior had the same fit n finish as my grandpa's 2001 f-250, which would be fine if it were also a work truck. I was just depressed for ford uppon returning it. The mustang should be one of their flagships.

I'm a ford guy, and i would just like them to make something that I would like to buy (that isn't in europe or australia.

Most american cars have POS interiors. Very plasticy and cheap for the most part. Even my Cadillac, felt very plastic and cheap even compared to the pathfinder I just got.

Depends on what you like & expect. The mustang has always been this way. It's an improvment from the last gen at least.

Maybe we can get them to use Aston Martin interiors on Fords?

Maybe?

If you want quality....get a german/euro car.

People the buy TAs, Camaros and Stangs usually know that the quality isn't the best, but for the price, they are what they are...pony cars.

You also rented it...it was probably BEAT! I rented a V6 camaro when I went to Florida and pummeled it like a red headed step child!

I have an 05 GT and the interior is nice. Granted Ford doesn't use the best plastics, but this isn't a luxury car. If you want a nice interior, go buy a Audi.

Also, the F-body interiors were designed by Fischer Price. Mustang interiors have always been nicer than F-bodies. The 05 Mustang interior is light years ahead of it.

Mustang interior isn't that bad. What about the catalytic converter hump in the passenger footwell of the F-body?

hopefully it's better than the last gen mustang. i haven't sat in the new one yet, but i seriously thought the last one was a joke.
course even my friend's escalade has a pretty crappy interior besides the seats. The dash just looks cheap and looks like they haven't touched a thing from a tahoe

i seriously like a civic interior more than most high end domestic's interiors. and i think that's one of the main reason's why i wouldn't buy an american car

I know that it isn't gonna have the quality of a 50 k dollar german car, but how about my beat to shit 97 acura cl, or my mom's old 95 accord. I do like the layout of of the stang more than a verry generic car such as mine, but everything else feels blarg like.

Also about being "beat to hell" because it's a rental car. I was the first one to rent the one i drove, and the post starter stated that his had 600 miles on it.

I agree. But I was never a fan of the big chrome on the dashboard.

it really says something about the quality of american cars...when a 12k honda civic has a much more comfy and refined interior than a 20k ford mustang

Cost low + Cheap interior = People complain about interior quality

Cost higher + Good interior quality = People complain about price...

Is there any american car that had a great price with a great looking/feeling interior?

My mom has a 2005 Mercury Mountaineer that she got a few months back. It has about 15,000 miles on it and even though I don't care much for it, I will say that it doesn't have ANY squeeks or rattles that I can speak of. My dad's TL and my TSX have a few rattles but not the Mountaineer. Now the Mountaineer doesn't have near the refinement that the Acura's have or my sister's Honda but it seems that it was put together well. Maybe she just got lucky....

My coworkers 2005 GTO has a pretty nice interior. The dash is made of materials that are half soft touch, and half hard plastic-- which is about what the accord has. The door panels are nicely done and the back seat isnt half bad.

I've been in a 2003 C5 z06 however, and it had a worse interior than a mustang. I've also been in a 2005 caddy Deville and the interior was horrible!
