New Motorcycle

I sold the starter bike. It was a 1999 Ninja 250. I'm ready to move to something bigger. I wouldn't have done it any other way. The 250 taught me great riding techniques that horsepower would have made up for in another bike. It was only intended to be a starter bike in the first place, and it filled the position perfectly. I wanted to get something bigger before I have kids, because that will probably put a holt in my riding for 18 years. Anyway, I'm upgrading to a 2004 Ducati Supersport 800. Its such a nice bike and it's the next chapter in my motorcycling endeavor. Here are pics of the Duc!!!

EX250 - I got it for $1600 w/ 8900 miles. I sold it for $1500 w/ 15000 miles.

The maint schedule on the Duc isn't bad. The 600 mile service will run me about $150. The 6k service will cost between $450 and $600 depending on what needs to be done. From there, it's serviced about every 6k more and that runs about $250 to $350. Dont forget of course about tires etc. Thats all extra.

Yummy bike and congrats on doing it the right way (starting with a 250cc and moving up after some seat time)! This is my plan as well. Now, still need to convince the wife. She's afraid I'm going to kill myself.

Anyway, sweet bike. I love the Ducati's!!

Valves have to be done at 6k mile intervals?

After they are done once, sometimes twice, they dont usually need adjusted again, but they like to check them at 6k intervals along with the other maint. stuff.

Awesome bike. My starter bike was a 91 Katana and then I moved up to a 900RR. After 2 accidents, no more bikes for me. Be safe!!

Awesome man! Maybe I'll see you at one of the bike nights. You made some great decisions the way you did this! :props: I'm so happy to see someone taking riding responsibly. I always shake my head at the guys on here that buy 1000cc or 600cc bikes to start because they are afraid of looking stupid on a smaller bike... :idiots:

I sometimes go out to the metric bike meets when they mix with the Harley's. I'll keep an eye out for ya. I ride a black and white Harley.

You're making all the right moves by starting small and moving up as you become more experienced.

That is a beautiful bike! Don't worry about the maintenance, just enjoy your wonderful twin!

Congrats man! Nice bike. Be careful.

Get some aftermarket exhausts and you're golden.

When you got the starter bike did you just teach yourself or what? I really want to get into this as well but have no clue where to start.

Do you MEAN "twin" engine, or "V-twin" engine? Twin engine tells me there are TWO Engines; I understand V-twin, as in twin cylinders arranged in a V like a V6.

I'm asking 'cause I know next to nothing about bikes.
