New-ish Tires cracking on sidewall. Contact supplier or Manufactuer?

i currently have a set of BF Goodrich tires on my 03 accord with about 10,000 miles on them.

there is a lot of tread left and the tires have been properly inflated since i've owned the car.

i just noticed the cracking on both front tires over the weekend. (rears seem to be fine) and of course im concerned and want to replace them.

i am easy on my tires and havent curbed or put them under any crazy stress.
should i contact BF Goodrich or try my luck at the place that they were purchased/installed?

thanks, -matt-

Take the car back to where you bought the tires from. the tires are surely within warranty limits. The supplier will deal with the manufacturer.

thank god i keep receipts, (and the previous owner) for that matter.

the store i called said bring them by for inspection and if its no fault of my own they would exchange them.

i usually go with sites like tire rack or Discount tire but i havent had the car long enough to purchase a new set.

i'd really like a new set of better performing tires but i wont pass up a new set for no cost.
something tells me this local shop is gonna put me through hell.

following the instructions my last 4 digits read 0809

making the production date late February of 2009?
the tires were installed in September of 2009.

just checking. SOmetimes tires sit in the warehouse for quite sometime and become old before they go on. Yours were installed the same year 7 months or so from when they were made.

its pretty tough to catch with my phone. this is one of the smaller examples... some of the cracks extend 4-5"

I had some similar cracks on some dunlop's last year, especially larger on the inner side of the tires. i contacted goodyear/dunlop warranty support through the phone. They opened a ticket and referred me to one of their service centers (coincidentally the place i bought the tires from) to inspect the tires. the service center reports what they find and they pro-rate you credit toward a new tire or set of tires. I wasn't happy with the pro-rate they were giving me and ended up buying different tires from a different place. You have to be the original owner of the tires in order for the warranty to be valid.

the original buyer is my friends mother,(she sold me the car) and she'll be more than happy to take it up there for me.

that was the first business to discuss when I discovered the tire receipts.

I'm just hoping they don't give her the run-around
