Were those production G35s or PRE-production models, sometimes a big difference.

Put it this way, the G35 will not make Infiniti any more poplular with buyers than any other Infiniti model. What they should have did was take the route Acura took with the Tl, if you can't beat em, make your car WAAAAAAAAAAAY cheaper, bring people in the showrooms and go from there.

Or they should have made the G35 a legitimate 5/GS/E competitior.

I can understand Lexus's strategy with the 2 cars at the same price because people recognize Lexus models regardless of how they look. Then the ES 300 was the entry-level champ (sales wise). So the IS won't disturb ES sales at all since it is ALREADY successful.

THe I30/35, hardly ANYONE knows what it is, it does not sell well and now they will have 2 Infiinti MODELS with no kinda identity with the public at the same price?

Jeez the lineup needs a SERIOUS pulse, the new Q was SUPPOSED to do it but I've seen 3 in Atlanta since June if you get the drift.

Coupes, fast HARDCORE sports coupe, Infiniti needs em bad.

Remembering the embarassment (my description, not that I would stand behind it) of the current Q45 (that is, overcoming a 50hp and 80lb advantage to end up slower than the LS430), what do you think the G35 will do with that precedent?

This is absolutely not an attack, and you might be surprised (or perhaps not, being that the two cars are almost in the same vein) that the G35 is one of the few cars that I might consider trading in my IS for in a few years.

Well recently the game got all #$%^& up. Instead of car manufactures making SUPERIOR cars, we end up in simple HP wars.

Ever figure how BMW had 189 hp outta that inline-6, but was a low 7/high 6 sec car 0-60.

Or the "gentleman's" agreement in Japan?

Nissan got DUMB when the 222hp Maxima was no faster than the 190hp Maxima. THAT was also embarressing.

Now it seems every car wants to make 1000hp and screw the rest of the car (suspension, handling, feedback, etc etc).

Infiniti has NO BRAND, and the G35 will only get lost with the rest of the lineup.

There is nothing wrong with the cars but it will ALWAYS be considered a 2nd tier luxury mark.

It really seems like you got one of the few true lemons, because I concurred (and still concur) that the steering was simply way off on the one that you got. Did they ever fix that?

It wouldn't be the power of the G35 that attracts me, but rather the interior room. There's definitely something to strafing curves with a car you wear, but there's also something to being able to stretch out on a wide open road.

One thing about the Q45 , look at it's final drive ratio.

It's like a 2:71 or something. Kinda tall , a 3:20 or something would really help in the straight line scoot department.
