new DVD-audio player for the TL???

sorry if repost...

HONDA OPTS FOR DVD AUDIO
Honda will begin offering a DVD-Audio player as a standard feature on the new Acura TL, which is scheduled to reach the showrooms in October, 2003. The new unit was designed by Panasonic and can play DVD-Audio discs as well as a variety of media including CDs. The new system will feature the very latest in audio technology and will be capable of reproducing 5.1 channels of uncompressed surround sound music. In addition, a new generation of DVD-Audio ready speakers, multi-channel amplifiers and in-dash receivers is being readied. Other automakers are also looking at the system, particularly for luxury models. The rising popularity of home entertainment systems equipped with surround sound has helped boost the popularity of the DVD-Audio format. -Joe Szczesny

I find it amazing that Honda claims the new TL is scheduled to hit the showrooms this October, yet there hasn't been even a single picture of the new TL yet.

Maybe the big TL debut will be in September

The CL was one of them.

Actually, there were several artists renderings released very early of the CL..... and they were very accurate too.

Don't you remember seeing those? They were in either Car and Driver or Motor Trend magazines.

no they werent that early... it was under 4 months...

Acura had a "web-release party" thats where those pics came from.

They were official.

There was nothing accurate on the CL before that.

We have 8 months till this next TL... which we dont even know if it will be a full redesign.

Thats plenty of time to see something.

Im guessing its not a full redesign since redesigned models are traditionally released in ~March~

The new Accord's WMA/MP3 player is a first step too maybe?
I wonder if a variant of that will be incorporated into a TL?

soopa,

No, I wasn't talking about the pics released by Acura. I was talking about the artist drawings that hit the magazines early...... I'll look back thru my old magazines and see if I can find them again. Going by memory, the artist rendering looked very much like the actual car when it came out (except that it sat much lower and had huge rims)

I read that the new TL will be a total new design and will move upscale to make room for the TSX out in April? The TL is getting a little dated with all the new offerings out since. I think the next year or 2 is great timing for Acura to answer back to the new competing models that have come out since the TL/CL in 00 as an early 01. Hopefully a new premium coupe off of any new TL will be out a year or 2 later!
