New Charger on Dodge site
Man I thought the pricing would be the same as the Magnum but the base doesn't bring the POS 2.7l for 190hp. For an MSRP of $23k you get the 250hp motor as in the Magnum SXT. Not to mention RWD. There of course is the R/T with the HEMI. And an SRT will come with a 6.1. Dodge's site is advertising big time HP in these puppies.

Saw one tonight at a local dealer.
Other than the huge ass tires & 4x4 look...it didn't look bad at all. The front looks pretty mean and the lights are very well done.
I think it was $28K...an SXT model without a sunroof.

Why bother with all the other options & then forget the sunroof...sad.

With the domestic manufactures releasing info about new models way ahead of their actual introduction, I sometimes forget what's coming out when

Haven't seen one yet, but the SRT is going to be sick (even the standard HEMI).........what more can a car enthusiast ask for than a tire burning rwd 425hp sedan for under $40k.
Sure most people would rather have an E55, but when reality sets in and you want a practical fast sedan.......its good to know there will be cars out there that don't cost an arm and a leg.

A Pontiac Aztek is fugly, the market will judge just how ugly the Charger is happens to be.
I would take this over most (if not all) $38k sedans offered currently.......just not in red.
The SRT8 should do 0-60 in the 5.0sec range.

I like the Magnum better. If it wasn't a Dodge, I would have got one.

I'm sure it will sell well and will be a decent car...just why do they have to mess with names and heritage?
It reminds me a little of the GTO. Pontiac was counting on the legacy of an awesome muscle car to sell that bland looking POS...and it failed. The only one doing the name legacy thing right these days if Ford. The new Mustang is true to its heritage...and the GT is a near perfect update of the original.
Having said all that, this new sedan by Dodge is going to be a head turner for a while (just as the 300C is). I'll certainly be paying attention when I see one.

A true car guy doesn't care about the looks. If they're using the name then it better perform like the original. An 80's Chevy Nova with a little Toyota motor in it pisses me off, but that's probably a result of the fuel crisis.

The Charger is getting initial positive reviews, because its more or less a sedan version of the Magnum like you said (which has been getting very good write-ups).

there's a couple issues I have with the new Charger:
#1. the front ooks like IMO a new Mustang GT. be orginal Dodge.
#2. the performance numbers are just average.0-60 in the 5 second range. according to Motor Trend's January issue of 04 the 04 TL 6 speed pulled a 0-60 time of 6.1 seconds. not far from a 5 second range. a Mini Cooper S with a 6 speed and John Cooper Works package pulls the same time as the TL. The Dodge SRT-4 Neon pulls a 5.5 0-60 time. also might I add 3 tens of a second quicker in the 1/4 mile than a 300C. The BMW 545i does 0-60 in 5.4 seconds. it's 1/4 mile time is comparable with a SRT-10 Ram pickup.
dodge's stupid SRT(except the SRT-4) department is build bigger motors and not technology to make them faster or lighter like BMW or other Import cars.

Yeah, if a car is ugly, it generally won't sell well. But that's not always the case. The Aztek is ugly and it doesn't sell well. But the PT Cruiser is also ugly and it sold quite well. I think the new Bangle designs are seriously ugly but sales are pretty good on them too. The market is not going to tell me what is ugly and what is not. What I objected to was you're statement that "the market will judge just how ugly the Charger is happens to be." I think a truer statement would be "the market will judge just how popular (or successful) the Charger is happens to be." But how ugly it is will be in the eye of the beholder. No one...market, magazine or otherwise is going to tell me what to think about esthetics.
