New Car Time.

Ok guys and girls, i'm in the market for a new or used car. Price cap is about $30k. Looking for basically full sized cars. No american cars! no European cars. Must have basic luxury features. This will be a travel car, so it has to be comfortable.

Toyota Avalon I believe is full-size. You could get a TL (used), but it's probably more mid-sized. TSX you could get new but it's definitely not full-sized. There's always Camry and Accord, but the Camry problems would scare me off of those.

Nope, RLs are pretty damn reliable.

4 speed tranny dont have issues.

My vote is for the 2004 RL as well!

<--- dad has a 02 with 70k miles with no issues.

What big car can you get that will do much better?

Avalon is 22 mpg / 31 mpg, go with that then. I cant comment on it since i never even driven one.

That's extremely impressive for a mid-size 280 hp car.

Rls can be found that cheap, also look into any 06tl's that might be left along with some used ones as well. My dealer here in orlando has a few 06's left w navi for under 30k.

i am going to look at a few g35 sedans on monday, and one pimp ls430 as well. i'de prefer rwd or awd this time. i've always had rwd cars except for my 91 ser and my cls. not a real big fan of fwd. i am also a little nissan biased. i've never had a problem out of the 5 that i have owned.

Don't get a Lexus E class. Those are weak. You could get a used GS for under 30.

If your looking for a true full-sized sedan, and no Euro or American cars, you're pretty much stuck with limited choices -

Avalon
LS series Lexus

The G35, TL, Camry, Maxima are all mid-sized. I believe the RL is considered mid-sized as well, but it's in the same class as the GS Lexus, etc.

I've driven both the LS and the Avalon - both are great, huge, huge cars. The Avalon is especially impressive for value, the LS is one of the most luxurious cars I have driven (well, the S600 was nicer, but still..).

I'd definitely get the used RL, or if you want a bit newer, a used G35. The RL is a huge bargain @30k though.

RL is a good pick, But if you can find an LS 430 for a reasonable price i would deffinitely go with that, ive driven one on a pretty regular basis and with over 65000 miles now it still rides perfect with barely any problems. otherwise Used GS, ( i own an acura and apparently im lexus biased)

my brother called me last night and told me that the lexus has alot of shady looking bodywork done to it. it's going to be a nogo on that. i want to go look at an avalon now as well. does anyone in jacksonville or pensecola have recomendations on decent dealerships in either of these cities?

I hope you're not looking to replace your CL-S... But I'd still look at an LS 400/30. Those have always tickled my pickle. That, or a Volvo S60R. Those can be had for under $30k.

I think the rear of the RL is plenty roomy, but then again, I have a Z and a civic coupe. Take a test drive and check it out. Love the car though. '05's seem to go for around 33-36k depending on the mileage. I've seen '05's between 19k-30k miles go for around 33-34k. I got lucky and got my '05 for 29,995 (private party) with only 9k miles.

Go to the nissandriven.com site and build one with the exact options you want to see exactly what you'd be getting. only takes minutes to do.
