I just went and looked at it tonight. Its a 2004 6-sp with 65k miles. Tires are shot and the interior looks a bit worn. Still, he's only asking $22k....

I have a 335i, I love it. I'd get the C2S. A 997 C2S is the best car under $100k, imho.

If you don't need the backseat-which I am hoping you don't if you have shortlisted the 911- what about a Cayman? - 07 are rough the same price as your g37( $30 K will get you a nice low miles version, a few K more for an S) and it is a fantastic drive- think of it as a stepping stone for the 911

Honestly, if you keep trading cars like this, I'd take a moment to ask yourself why you're doing it and if you'll ever truly be happy with a purchase.

I only say this because we've seen it here before and we'll see it again. And I've done it myself.

2 cars that you left off your list i like:
#1. Lexus IS-F( Solid build quality plus i think it looks good)
#2. Benz C63 AMG( just one word: Torque )
personally from everyone i talked to Benz's service>BMW service. I have a brother in law who's had a Benz and a BMW he said he'll NEVER have a BMW again. just their dealers are a-holes if you don't buy the car from that dealer.

Although, at this moment and at 2k miles... i cant picture selling the M3 anytime soon. Makes me giddy every time i drive it. If i still have it after 6 months then you know its a keeper.

If that's what you really want then why not just sell your G37, save up for awhile, and throw down as much cash as you can on a barely used one?

I know, silly concept probably.

if you are looking at an E46 do NOT get anything before 05. I looked a lot of those and I don't know what they did b/w the two years but the 05's and ride a lot better.

e92 m3.......

I think its the excitement of getting a new car that actually makes me happy as opposed to just the car itself. There really is no other explanation for it than that I have an addicti (as do most of the ppl here on car talk)....

2 cars that you left off your list i like:

I already have an IS350 so getting an IS-F wouldn't be enough of a change for me. The C63(2) AMG is really nice too but I'm not a big fan of all those scoops and shit on it. Just an aesthetic gripe as the car drives awesome I'm sure....

Although, at this moment and at 2k miles... i cant picture selling the M3 anytime soon. Makes me giddy every time i drive it. If i still have it after 6 months then you know its a keeper.
If there's any one person on here that has less room to talk about trading cars.....

If that's what you really want then why not just sell your G37, save up for awhile, and throw down as much cash as you can on a barely used one?

I know, silly concept probably.
This is the best advice so far. I could probably save pretty quick without my current outrageous car payment....

Whoever suggested the 987 is spot on, I can't believe I didn't think of it. Having driven both 997's and 987's, if I had any sort of budget and I couldn't comfortably get the EXACT 911 I wanted I would very happily get into a Cayman(or Boxster).

if you are looking at a new M3 then you can swing the payments on a new Jag XF Supercharged. their right in the same league as far as price.

the M3 will outhandle and "out run" the XF but the XF is not for grandpa.
personally i'd take the XF for 3 reasons:
#1. Tata motors if gonna bring Jag back
#2. i personally like the styling of the XF more than the M3
#3. the XF bigger than the M3 and i'm 6 ft 4 so thats a big factor to me.

I get giddy seeing and driving my Legacy specB. I feel left out

If your heart is set on a certain vehicle, then save for it, then get it. Don't settle, as you'll be back here in 6 months asking the same question.

You shouldn't even put 335 and 911 in the same discussion. A 911 is such a better car than a 335. If you can afford a 911 buy it....buts that's just my opinion.

As much as I love the 911 I'm just leary about buying an older car (which I would have to do with the Porsche). I'd also only be able to afford a 2S or 4S at most. For the same money I can get a brand new 09 335i special ordered the way I want it.

Still the 911 would be awesome....

to me Porshe's don't do that much for me. yes their amazing machines and they move but personally i don't like their styling. if i was in your seat hit up the Jag dealer on that XF Supercharged.

Maybe I'm weird or missing something but is anyone else worried that you are currently upside or real close on your current car? Not to be an ass but if you owe that much on your current car, you didn't put that much down and you made a comment about your huge current payment so why get a bigger one? Maybe I missed where you said you were throwing a bunch of cash down but I don't think so.

That being said, I would take an M3. If you wanna be wise, keep the G and mod it like the nice one Crazy posted

**UPDATE** Well, my fiancee is pregnant!!!!! So I will probably not be getting a new car after all but a new baby instead. I'm so excited to be a daddy that I don't even care that much about the car anymore!!! I guess I will just try to refinance my G with a better rate and get some rims, maybe an exhaust etc. I might still find a nice low-mile 335i that would save me some money over my current payment so I won't totally rule out a new car yet. Anyway, congrats to me!!!!

Ok, you still got 1/10th of an inch wiggle room. If you gonna get that M3, it better be before your big day... as in, fiancee ---> wife.... Of course, unless you get two M3s.

Edit: Holy! I just noticed your last post. You just hit us with a hammer - not sure whether to say congrats on not... CONGRATS daddy!
