New car choice - input please

Suggestions please:
Inlaws are buying a new car, asked my suggestion -
Has to be < $30k, nothing luxurious/sports cause the son would swipe it and leave them with the chevy cavalier. They are 55ish and mileage matters.

My first suggestion was a Toyota Rav4, then a honda civic (but the civic might be too small)

Input please

New, redesigned, 2007 Camry with the 3.5L (270HP?) V6 and the 6-speed Automatic. should be less than $30K.

If they need something bigger, the 06 Avalon in the "Touring" trim can be had for less than $30K.

If they're on a budget, its very hard to beat a 6-cyl 06 Sonata for about $18.5K (plus tax of course) or even a 4-cyl 2007 Camry.
