New car advice.....
My cousin is looking for a new car.and so far we have come up with:
2005 Acura Rsx Type S
2006 Mistubishi eclipse GT
2005 Toyota Celica GT (dont know if 2006 is out or if it looks the same as 05)
2005 Acura Tsx (looks nice but yea its not fast but still consider)
we can't think of any other cars.... Manual and leather seats with 27k the limit to spend and pretty fast..
Maybe you guys have any other suggestions ....within that price range...and feedback welcome...He mostly consider coupe but wouldn't mind a 4 door as well..
Thanks

If your looking for speed I would take the TSX off your list, while it can be made fast with aftermarket parts, its not fast for $27k- I own one, trust me.
I would add the Impreza WRX to your list and if you don't HAVE to have leather a SRT4- if you don't mind a year or two old car that happens to be a convertible I would check out a preowned S2000.
I also think of the Celica and the Eclipse are more of "chick" cars, something worth considering.

The Eclipse is a porker. It won't be a very sporty drive and the torque steer will make the TL look like it doesn't have any.
The Celica is going to be killed soon by Toyota. Might not be the greatest idea to get one, although you should be able to get a good deal on the clearouts.
^^Ditto for the RSX Type-S
You never said it had to be very fast. I'd describe the TSX as more "zippy" than anything. Since you're getting it in a manual it won't be slow, but it won't be fast either.
But if he is considering something like the Eclipse...the Accord EX-V6 6MT coupe might also be a consideration. But it suffers from the same difficulties as the Eclipse: a somewhat mushy suspension and a little bit of torque steer, but those are in lesser doses than the Eclipse (and I think the Honda manual is better). You should be able to pick up a 2005 for the price you want on clearance I think.

Given the choice of a G35c w/30k and a new TSX that would be a no brainer. I compared the two when I bought my TSX and I left unimpressed with the G35- fit and finish and quality of materials used through out left a lot to be desired. Some G35 owners are experiencing no problems at all, other's are having weird electrical problems. The 05's address some of the interior short comings, but still falls short. In other words it wouldn't be on my list, but that's me.
With what Hondata has shown possible with the K24 engine, if your into moding it at all you'll be pleased. For less then the difference of what a TL costs you can make a TSX faster in a better handling car that gets better fuel economy.

Eclipse:
3560lbs
262hp
260lb-ft torque
18/27mpg - city/hwy
car and driver 0-60 -> 6.1s, 1/4mi -> 14.5s@100mph
Accord($26950):
3285lbs
240hp
212ft-lbs torque
21mpg/30mpg - city/hwy
car and driver 0-60 -> 5.9s, 1/4mi ->14.5s@98mph
So you can see the performance is similar. Except that the Accord will get better fuel economy doing it. (and a little harder to launch due to less torque)

Here are the links to the articles above since it's a to post data without backing it up:
Accord: http://www.caranddriver.com/article....&page_number=1
Eclipse: http://www.caranddriver.com/article....rticle_id=9634
And subjectively, I think Accord interior > Eclipse interior

Out of those listed, I go with the acuras or the toyota...
There are rumors of the RSX being discontinued (and with the new Civic SI being so close in price and performace, I can see why), so if your friend buys the RSX he might get hit with the depreciation on a discontinued model (I own a CLS, so I've gone thru this).
I actually looked at the RSX and Celica GT before I bought my CLS. I decided that while they were fun little cars, that I want something a little bigger.
If I was to buy today (and wasn't hung up with getting back into a RWD car), I'd look at the TSX... Best bang for the buck in it's class.
I will never recomend a Mitsubishi. I've just never liked them (and I don't really have a good reason why). Maybe because the eclipse is a girls car ??
