New Beater

My TL has been in my tech class since Monday and I have been working on doing my 105k service which will take me till Tuesday most likely (only have 1.5 hours a day to work on it). My brothers g always has something going on with it, so sometimes he needs another car too. Also we take constant trips to friend's lake houses year round, so after talking with my dad, he agreed that if we pay for half, we could get a beater. My dad will also use it occasionally to pull his Harley from here to there, so it will definitely be put to good use.

After looking for about a week we picked up a 1999 Tahoe LT 4x4 today. It has 124,500 miles on it, 4x4, brand new tires, very clean inside, normal wear and tear with a few light door dings on the outside, and even heated seats. It needs new wipers and new pads, but I can knock that all out within an hour this weekend. Runs very smooth, A/C works great, heated seats work as good as the ones in my TL and better than the ones in brother's g35. The previous owner was the first owner and was asking 4000 for it, we ended up paying 2500.

Here are pics:

off topic but on a local forum there was a guy showing pics of g35 trunks in a poll on which one he should get, and there was a pic of your brothers g35. I only know it's your brothers because your TL was right next to it.

back on topic, nice car for the $

Counting down the minutes until it's modded.

Nice pickup. Parts for those things are cheap and easy to find if you ever need them.

I'm going to try to resist modding this...very hard. I'm going to definitely work on fixing it up, get a good set of EBC pads, nice wipers, was thinking about adding fog lights and a grill guard to it, along with some brighter bulbs. Also looking to cut out the resonator to give it a beefer sound along with a chrome tip, just to make it that much better. I really wanna lift it but I just stopped modding the TL to save money so not much is going into this.

Interior and exterior look to be in immaculate condition for a '99 SUV. And for $2,500?

I just got back from dinner and running a few errands in it and it really runs like a champ. I'll try to get more pics of the interior, it's almost perfect

Only real complaint, maybe someone can help me with this. When using the key fob to lock the door, you have to hold it down for like 3-4 seconds for it to work, and when we got the car the unlock barely worked and now it isn't working at all. Any ideas? Also when pressing unlock inside the car you have to press it a few times for the car to finally unlock the door. Related problem? I think something aftermarket regard the locks was added because there is a small red light that I'm pretty sure was added at one point.

nice Tahoe

my mom has a 96 Dr 4wd Tahoe. has 150k and it runs like a champ.

the only issue we have had with it is brakes. they seem to warp pretty easily. and the DLRs and rear wiper dont seem to work anymore.

The door lock issue sounds like (with the extra LED) that some wiring my be screwy. Maybe a Viper alarm was added and they tapped into the wrong place for power. Get a look see where the light is wired and you may find the culprit.

Nice truck, but is it a 2003 GMC Yukon with pushrods? If not, then it's crap.

Thanks everyone. Just put new headlight bulbs on it, cleaned up the headlights a little bit, topped off the washer fluid, and replaced the front brake pads. Just a few small things to make it better overall.
