Beater Car Opinion

Hello everyone,

First, sorry if this is a car talk question.

Anyway, I have just changed jobs and the commute changed from five to 40 miles each way.

I am looking to get a beater/highway car to drive everyday. I have a lead on a 1997 Integra GS-R two door. It has 103,600 miles, is dark green, with tan cloth. The body is in good shape and everything works.

The figure I had in mind for the highway beater was $5,000ish. The person selling this car wants $8,000, which I think may be crak induced. Anyway, what do you guys think it fair for this car?

I have no pics or VIN, yet.

Thanks.

try blue book's website to start.. cars.com...etc... 8k for that is INSANE. Even 5k is too much imo. My "beater" 2001 Civic coupe I got around 10k with only 11k miles. You can do better.. or why not just drive closer to your new job? I could not handle driving 40 miles one way for work, then again, you probably dont have the kind of traffic that I have.

Ideally, I'd find a decent Civic 5MT with low miles. I would like to have cruise control, but really only need A/C.

I am still looking.

Is that Integrat a decent buy for < $5,000?

Yes, I wouldn't pay more than $5,000 for an old Teg with over 100K miles.

I'm glad I didn't sell my beater, A 95 Civic EX. It curently has 165K miles and it's still running like a top. The ONLY thing wrong with it is the cigarette lighter sticks sometimes and one of my dash lights flickers sometimes.

If I were to sell my car now I would ask for 2995 expecting 2500 for it, non-inspected, as is. Of course I live in Annapolis MD and the cost of living here is higher than most.

we have a 95 accord coupe 5mt that we paid 2100 for a year and a half ago. it had 170k on it had some dings and dents but was in great mechanical shape.
best 2100 we spent, hopefully we will have it many years

I wouldn't give 9 grand for that. I'd go with either 94-97 series of accord(you can pick up a mint condition one 4 popper(for mileage) with low mileage EX for 5 grand easy around here mine has 275 k on it and still gets 25 miles per gallon average city and highway(In winter) in summer i'm up around 30
if you really like that GS-R i'd give about 4 and that's it. if he won't come down say CALL me when you want to deal man.

$4,000 seems to be the popular number. Are there any companies out there crazy enough to sell a warranty on a 100k+ mileage car?

Get a '92-'93 Integra GS-R.....those are fun, and not expensive to buy.
