too much for an overweight pig...yet this pig does have a lot of bells and whistles...underpowered + expensive = look elsewhere. Old people will love this car. I'd rather get M3 or 5 series for that price. Jus my 2 pennies.

more like overpriced Piece of shit. well, maybe not literally a "piece of shit"..but for that price, I'd definitely "look elsewhere". If you look at other car company's "flagship" model, you'd know why it was called a "flaghship". This is just nonsense when you introduce a new top model line like this..underpowered, V6. If people say it's for a different market group, I'd like to know which market group. cause ain't no one dumb enough to fork over $50,000 for a honda that is OK.
I really though honda is more innovative than this..

its a nice car... you'll notice that its not gonna be so common when it drops because of the price,
this is another reason why its cool , cuz its not gonna be like u see one every few seconds like a
mazda 3 or a nissan max or a older TL

Yeah your right but the the way my CLS has been over the last 6months in terms of reliability, i would not want to buy it, with 0 down your payment is somewhere are $850+ a month, over 60months.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't. People knock on Acura for being value, and now Acura unleashes something that's more expensive than the competition, and we're predicting doom. LOL
I don't even know how much it's going to matter...most cars in this price range are leased anyway.

IT's not so much Acura they don't know, but they usually don't know what kind of car the CL is. Who gives a fuk if Acura is not a household name, as long as you like the car and it is a good value, fuk it. To buy a car so that everyone will know how you paid for it is ridiculous in my opinion.

Event tho' Acura has been around longer then Lexus, more people know what a Lexus is then what an Acura is.
They really must have some rocket scientists working in the Marketing department of Acura
Acura may be pricing itself out of customers. After being burned on the resale value on my CLS, I'd be hesitant to buy anything from Acura for $50K. There are alot of nice cars in the $50K range, and the new RL will have some stiff competition.
There are rumors of a Acura sports car (sub-nsx) coming out, but if it's priced at around 50K, most people would probably just buy a M3 or C6 instead.

Outnumbered at home
Damn i am suprised at some of the responses here. What other car maker can offer anything near the style, power, tech gadgets for anything near 49k?
Mercedes = yeah right, if you want less power, less gadgets and lord knows less reliabilty.
BMW? If you can get past the styling sure the 530 is nice. But again way less power, no AWDlk and no where near as nice an interior.
Lexus? Not a fan of the GS and i am pretty sure it is a good deal more expensive for something comparable.
I think that RL looks hot, the price is amazing for what you get. Cars like this and the TL will finally start to help acura get the name recognition it needs.
Man why did some of you buy your CL's? Same logic makes the CL a piece of crap as well

This is very true.....you either get the low end E-class or 5-series. The GS has similar weight and power, but the styling is 5-6 years old and a fully loaded GS will run closer to 60k out the door. The problem for the RL is that it might only be tops in its category for maybe a year....
I think its a pretty nice looking car...and the AWD tranny is probably a lot stronger than the POS one we got.

flagship for acura, who cares what other companies flagship models are, look at VW, they came out with the flagship Phaeton which is way more expensive than the RL and was a huge flop.. you don't have to put out a 100K car to have it be your flagship model...
and since when is 300hp under any circumstances underpowered??? with awd no less...
if the name isnt good enough for you then so be it, but don't expect to get the options of this car with any other bmw or benz for the price, unless you really want an underpowered luxury car
and just for kicks, if you haven't noticed the market group for this car would be late 30's to early 50's, not a bunch of twenty year old street racers... these are the same people that i see driving cl's next to me down the road... those who want a nice car and a decent price, where not paying for just the emblem on the front of your car matters...
side note: is this car being built in japan or the us? cause that would make a big difference to me in terms of reliability
edit: they could have come out with a v8 (not that one even exists, more $ for more R&D), but that also wouldn't fit honda's style of trying to lead in terms of reduced emissions...

With the power that the RL has so far it's been known to get low 15 sec 1/4 miles. But true, even E320's are not much faster. They don't care.
However this car can look badass if modded.

Pedestrian Detection Assist System
World's first Intelligent Night Vision System* detects pedestrians and provides driver cautions
·
The Intelligent Night Vision System uses images obtained from two far infrared cameras positioned in the lower section of the front bumper to detect the position and movement of infrared heat-emitting objects and determine whether they are in or approaching the vehicle’s path. Based on size and shape, the system also determines if the detected object is a pedestrian. In addition to the conventional night vision function of giving the driver an enhanced view of the road ahead by displaying pedestrians on the heads-up display, the system is the world’s first to provide visual and audio cautions that inform the driver of the presence of pedestrians that are on the road or about to cross the vehicle’s path.
* Factory option
I want this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i dont know why..but it seems cool

A more compact "5-speed automatic transmission" takes full advantage of the engine’s superior performance. "Honda’s Prosmatic transmission control technology" , which provides intelligent shift control..........
yeah right... then FIX our glass tranny or its just another
