New Acura Lineup

Besides the NSX, this line up looks like different types of the same car. Like when the band Orgy produced the album "Blue Monday" in 1998. 14 tracks of the exact same song.

The body lines, window designs, headlights, taillights, body contours. all the same.

We are now entering The Givers "Sameness"(book not the moneygrab movie).

All vehicles brands are like this, and the ILX is not a new Acura vehicle in their lineup. Why is this posted in the 3G TL page? This post is weird and should go in ramblings maybe.

The Mazda 6 looks identical to the TLX which looks identical to the Q50 which could be confused for the 3-series which resembles the Kia Optima....

Everyone is making the same exact car nowadays. No originality anymore, just building generic cars for the masses that will sell easily

I'm trusting that Acura will one day build amazing machines like the pre-2009 years.

The cars individually look good, but look too similar in a line up.

These were great years for Acura. Every car looks of era, yet different from one another. Same went for 2000s models.

The 2010s lineup had the same homogenous lineup. This for me was when cars began to blend together.

gee whiz excerpt from 2018 TLX press release seems related to what you mentioned: ' The 2018 TLX is the second model in the Acura lineup (following the 2017 MDX) to take design cues from the Acura Precision Concept and boasts an alluring new style, highlighted by the Acura diamond pentagon grille and amplified by its more sharply sculpted hood and front fenders, paired with strong dynamic characteristics including more aggressive and sporty front and rear fascia, side sills...'

This is the Precision concept you wrote of. This should have been the new TLX Type-S/ CL Type-S.

It’ll probably come with the civic Si power train with available manual transmission because “we listened to our customers”, will start at 75k and they will make 600 units world wide. Then, complain that people only buy SUVs.

I wish they would remove cars like the NSX-S that you actually cannot buy. They were all sold before they appeared on the site.

You want Acura to go back to the days when they were rebadging Isuzu's?

You know it's madness when a Toyota looks radically different from everyone else.

Did anyone notice that the whole new Acura lineup (sans the race car) are "Premium"? WTH do they think, mediocre wasn't working so now if they say premium people will buy it? America is not Japan, Acura.

As of 2021, All Acura is manufactured and assembled outside of Japan.

Did you mean Fire Sale? If so then I'd agree.

And as far as Japan goes, The Japanese market loves the advertising of something being better. Direct comparison is not allowed (The Honda Accord is better than the Nissan Skyline because X Y Z... Can't do that). But what they tend to do is call something a "premium" brand or higher class. It's duping the consumer, and they buy it hook, line, and sinker. This is why certain high end brands like Rolex, Louis Vuitton, etc... sell well. The cache of a "premium" product.

Now if Acura makes a car that can compete with a 550i or a 4 series, call me. Until then

Why wait for them to make that product? Buy a reliable Honda/Acura and put a power adder on it.

In reality, compared to Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Mazda, ect. It is a premium brand. But unlike Toyotas premium brand Lexus, it is sportier across the board.

If Bear didn't have an issue with his account and was able to log-in, he would tell you exactly why Acura is in this mess. Their marketing department has overhyped these vehicles to be something that they clearly aren't. The type-s badge is their way of saying it's an AMG or ///M version of the base trim. Unfortunately any of the brand loyal enthusiast will claim it's a reliable brand with great resale value. Is it reliable? Not really.. how about great resale value? in this market, everything is great so it's not something to brag about. Current and previous owners have expressed their concerns and issues with their Acura models, some here try to brush it off or silence them. They pull out the good ole "Well, I never had a problem!?!!" (insert the need to defend and ignore a real issue). Or my new favorite "if it's such a bad vehicle buy another brand and go to their forums" Stay classy my friends

One of the biggest issues Acura faces (I know almost everyone is doing this), their dealerships are hurting them with the mark-ups. If they need sales to survive, then do something about it. Their own dealerships are putting themselves 1st over the brand they work for. It's a small brand now. Acura is in a mess.

Acura was originally conceived as a luxury alternative, with mild sporting intentions that sold for less than it's competitors. Nissan and Toyota really were not quite there yet, but as they started to "brand engineer" Toyota said we're going to raise the bar to Mercedes level with the LS series. Of course others followed but it was in Japan that had the first split of their JDM market to a premium brand. It was genius. Example: The Toyota Windom was also sold as the Lexus ES for a few years. Then it went exclusively to Lexus. Same with the Land Rover and LX460. But they still sold the LR worldwide sans the US.

Nissan went this route as well, and created Infiniti. Didn't really take off in Japan like Lexus, but it was a difference. Honda never did this in their home market. And this was a big failure on their part.

Don't get me wrong, I liked my 2G Acura TL (it was a Saber in Japan). As the transmission developed the hiccups of that time I sold it. But a sold car overall. But not special. To be competitive with the better cars of the segment, they need HP, suspension that is both compliant but sporty, and higher quality materials for the interior. Not recycled Honda parts.
